DETROIT (AP) — U.S. Rep. Thaddeus McCotter will make a "major announcement" Saturday about whether he will run for president in next year's election, a person familiar with the plans said Thursday.

McCotter's office said Thursday that the 45-year-old will be the keynote speaker Saturday at a festival in Whitmore Lake.

"He's going to make a major announcement at that event," the person, who is in contact with the Livonia congressman, told The Associated Press.

Would love to see him in a debate with his dry humor at warp speed. Just so long as not like another named Dole, who just went from humorous to a dull dullard when he ran.

Personally I think he’s just raising his profile for a senate run against Stabenow.

If that is true, all power to him. You are right about the union thing, but a run against Staby in that state with his soft spot for the unions may be the only way to get a Conservative elected up there.

Who will have the lesser affect: Huntsman or McCotter?

If they add a little sizzle to the debates.. they’ll have done well.

And who knew Obama or Sarah at this point in the last cycle. The more the merrier.

A very dry wit and an intellect. I enjoyed him on Red Eye.

I guess that it takes a special kind of a person to believe that he - or she- is Presidential material. Maybe that’s why they have the ego to run for Congress in the first place.

I wonder what motivates this A-Hole, with zer0 name recognition, to totally waste his time in an impossible dream toward an impossible ending?

And who funds this loser’s effort???

Is there some reason you took the time to post that?

I’ve heard good things about this guy and I think I head him briefly on the radio once.

I agree with the other post, the more the merrier for right now.

I just don’t want any 3rd party candidate next november.

We need to get rid of Obama, take the senate and hold the house.

It is a very simple, straightforward plan.

We need to stick with it, and not mess it up.

“Conservatives aren’t likely to be real tolerant of a pro union republican right now.”

I’ve never heard it said that McCotter is pro- “card check”.

“I wonder what motivates this A-Hole, with zer0 name recognition, to totally waste his time in an impossible dream toward an impossible ending?”

You’ll eat your own words when in time, you realize that McCotter has much more than “zer0” name recognition, etc.

In fact, he’s probably 1000 percent more honest than Obama because he can afford to be honest where Obama could never have afforded to be honest.

In a debate with Obama, McCotter only has to be honest but I look forward to him being ‘brutally’ honest. That’s how liberals would characterize it...If you’re just plain honest with Obama about his performance as a senator and POTUS, they’ll call “foul” and suggest that such rhetoric is “vitriolic” and uncivil.

Mr. McCotter, it’s time for somebody like you to take Barack Obama out to the proverbial shed and open up a can of political whoop-ass on him.

Whitmore Lake? I’m about five minutes from there. I might stop by if I have time.
