the more the merrier.
I'd be more comfortable with that position if I had more confidence in the Republican primary process winnowing down the field to a manageable race early.

When you have 2 contenders and one of them gets more votes than the other, you know exactly who to promote. But when you have three contenders, mathematics doesn't tell you whether the third candidate is the second choice of everyone who voted for the other two, and whether the third candidate is actually a better choice than those who came in ahead of him/her.

So yes, I favor Palin's entry into the lists - but only because IMHO she is the best one to coalesce the conservative wing of the party around. If you encourage too many entries, you could get 11 conservatives each with 5% of the primary vote - and Mitt Romney running away with the primaries with "smashing victories" in which he gets 25% of the vote. If each "conservative" candidate has his own niche in which he's the "pure conservative," you have a the risk that "better" becomes the enemy of "good enough." And you end up with McCain - or in this case Romney - for your nominee.

Legal gamesmanship threatens our energy future (Montana looks to Rick Perry's TX model) “Texas Gov. Rick Perry is able to boast about job growth under his watch, noting that over 265,000 jobs, or nearly 37 percent of the jobs created nationwide since the summer of 2009, have been created in the Lone Star state.

He credits this growth to a few simple conditions: low taxes, a regulatory climate that is fair and predictable, and a legal system that limits frivolous lawsuits. According to the Wall Street Journal, nearly one-fourth of the 70 companies that left California this year relocated to Texas.

When new or relocating companies and investors survey the landscape and consider Montana, what do they see? Well, when it comes to natural-resource development, the landscape looks risky. ….”

.

And so who are you going to listen to, some of our most revered Conservative icons or the vicious Looney Left?

>Sarah Palin threw her endorsement to Rick Perry for governor-. She recently restated that she likes Perry.

>Rush said that Perry is his dream candidate. http://gretawire.blogs.foxnews.com/rush-limbaugh-on-the-record-3/

>Michael Reagan praises Perry:
“If you don’t believe Reaganomics can still work in this day and age, for whatever reason, I say you should look no further than the state of Texas.
Under the leadership of Gov. Rick Perry, Texas has championed and built upon the concepts my father used to rebuild America in the 1980s..
In short, Reagan Revolution is alive and well - deep in the heart of Texas.”
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/jun/24/reagans-vision-lives-on-in-texas/?page=1

>Ted Nugent is a close friend and supporter

Are you going to listen to of dozens of Perry’s fellow politicians and scholars or the vicious Looney Left?

Read the official statements of dozens of Perry’s fellow politicians and scholars (both Democrats and Republicans) have had to say about Rick Perry: http://www.politico.com/arena/archive/rick-perry-for-president-in-2012.html

All (including Democrat opponents) have called him a staunch Conservative, and not one of the dozens issuing opinions has mentioned the vaccine or TTC.
Apparently they don’t consider these things an issue. They DID mention Perry threatening to secede from the unionas a strike against him.
What Perry actually said; “You know, my hope is that America and Washington in particular pays attention,” Perry continued. “We’ve got a great union. There is absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what may come out of that? So. But Texas is a very unique place and we’re a pretty independent lot to boot.”

Until 1989, Rick Perry was a conservative Democrat. He switched parties as, like many Democrats including Ronald Reagan and Phil Gramm, he saw that party moving farther and farther to the left. Under Perry’s decade as governor, hundreds of Texas Democrats have followed his lead and become Republicans. As a former Democrat, Perry can speak to that swath of his former party that has become disenchanted with their party as President Obama has taken it even farther to the left, in a way that few Republicans can. He can also speak well and credibly to all wings of the national GOP, from the fiscal cons to the social cons to the libertarian set.
He would appeal to all segments of the Republican electorate and would come armed with a record of economic success and a commitment to liberty that no other contender can match.

The Perry trashing is hardly in the best interests of our Conservative agenda. The Loony Left does not need any help from us in character assassination of our Conservatives.
Our Conservative candidates are not perfect.
None of them.
They have all made mistakes and carry baggage.
But what we must do is try to run one that has a chance of winning the White House from the Marxist/Muslim usurper.
We MUST win, or Hussein will finish America.

We had best trust the opinions of our Conservative icons.
We have to run someone capable of winning this thing.
As much as we love our Palin, Backmann and Cain, they simply cannot win.
We must run someone with a proven solid record and cross-over appeal. Even with all his faults, that someone is Rick Perry.
They all have their faults.
There is no perfect Conservative candidate.
Never has been.
Never will be.
We are forced to choose the best of the lot.
That’s just the way it is.

“.... he is an open-border fraud and favors Amnesty.”

>Perry adds immigration issues to lawmaker session
Perry wants passage of a measure requiring every person arrested to be run through the federal immigration databases as part of the Secure Communities program. He also wants to provide the state Department of Public Safety with the authority to make sure someone is in the U.S. legally before issuing a driver’s license.

>These measures, along with a ban on sanctuary cities, would “provide a clear message that Texas will not turn a blind eye to those breaking our laws,” Perry said in a statement.
“Texas owes it to the brave law enforcement officials, who put their lives on the line every day to protect our families and communities, to give them the discretion they need to adequately do their jobs,” Perry said.
http://www.rickperry.org/media-articles/perry-adds-immigration-issues-lawmakers-agenda-0?amp

>Gov. Perry has made numerous requests of the federal govt. to enforce the border in Texas including handing President Obama a letter in person when he landed in Dallas last year.
(Obama insulted governor Perry when he turned away and Perry had to hand the letter on the illegals issue to presidential adviser Valerie Jarrett. Obama declined to personally accept it.)

>Gov. Perry refuses to meet/greet Obama in May 2011 at El Paso during his Texas tour.
Perry later declared, “If he wanted to meet, I was in Austin.

>Perry signed into law photo ID required before voting.

.

WHAT have other states done?? (with the exception of AZ Ok and Ga)
What have other candidates stated that they would do?
What has Sarah stated she would do?
What is Backmann’s plan?
What did Reagan do?
President Ronald Reagan was the first president in history to grant amnesty to illegal aliens. On November 6, 1986, he signed into law the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) of 1986, [PUB L 99-603]. In so doing, he set a precedent whereby the United States would not seek to deport illegal aliens, but to reward their lawbreaking by granting them full citizenship.

NEWSFLASH! None of them are going to do much.
We have to take the best of the lot.

Before we get too misty eyed over Rick Perry lets take a realistic look at the guy. He’s a moderate at best. He didn’t force the Texas legislature to vote on an anti groping laws. He was forced through public pressure to put it on a special session agenda where its rumored he worked behind the scenes to make sure it got killed.

Perry was a passionate sponsor of the Trans Texas Corridor, issued an executive order in Texas requiring all girls to get the Gardasil vaccination. He is a former Democrat and campaign manager for Al Gore.

We can do better.

Well, I'm probably going to go with Perry and I'm not part of anyone's "machine".

Among those I talk to here in Iowa, Perry is the easiest sell.

Maybe because he believes all little girls should be presumed infected with STDs?

It's a vaccine. Like those for measles, mumps, rubella, polio, etc. They must be given prior to infection to be effective. There's no presumption of infection, there's presumption of exposure risk. A vaccine works by stimulating the natural immune system against a particular virus. This is no different.

Three-quarters of Americans are infected by HPV at some point in their lifetimes, most don't know it because they are not symptomatic and a normal immune system kills many versions of the virus. You won't know if you were exposed to the cancer-causing variants and by the time you know it's too late.

Since 50%, or more, are sexually active by the time they graduate high school, it entirely reasonable to see they are vaccinated before risking exposure. Even if she remains a virgin until marriage, a young daughter cannot know whether she'll be exposed in the future by a husband with a past.

It made perfect sense as a public health policy, particularly as parents could opt out under Perry's order.

Most objections fell into two groups those who are anti-vaccine and those who believed it would give license to sexual activity. The second group denies reality of how people act and that no person has perfect knowledge of what diseases they may be exposed to or carry.

Maybe because he’s a crony capitalist of the worst sort?

This is one thing I am concerned about regarding Perry. It's just a feeling.

Maybe because he's a cheerleader for the Mexican invasion of the United States

He's done plenty of good things in recent years like putting Texas Rangers on the border, calling for 3,000 more border patrol on the TX-Mex border and adding the sanctuary city bill to the special session. His record isn't pure, obviously, he did sign in-state tuition about 10 years ago and he doesn't want the massive fence across the thousand miles of border.

I haven't seen any crystal clear statement that he supported Bush/McCain style amnesty. He clearly spoke out for reform but everything I've seen pointed to support for a new, renewable, guest worker visa program that did not include a reward of citizenship.

Just curious, if you only had two choices for the Republican nominee, Rick Perry or Ron Paul, which one would you pick?

Sarah is not making any attempt at raising funds and reaching out to prominent Republicans for support.

Huh? You just wait until SARAHPAC releases its fund raising numbers for this past quarter...lol.

She doesn't need *prominent* Republicans. She is the prominent Republican.

I think the R 2012 Presidential ticket will be Perry/Palin or Palin/Perry. Not sure of the order, but I have this feeling they are kinda chummy, and will end up together.

Poll Date Sample Obama (D) Palin (R) Spread
RCP Average 5/31 - 6/23 — 54.8 35.5 Obama +19.3

Palin may look strong to you, since you are in the middle of her tight little world, but among the main voting public, Palin has slipped another 1.5 points in a match up against Obama.

A Palin candidacy would deeply split the base once again and give us another 2008. Which would then leave the door wide open for Romney. The MSM will make sure that happens again.

How many months out are we? Obama *is* the candidate and Palin has not announced. She has not had the chance to debate or to show herself to the voters in a debate since ‘08.

Everything changes and you should know that. Polls are meaningless at this juncture. Ask Jimmy Carter, since he’s still living. He was 30 points ahead of Ronald Reagan.

‘Which is why she launched a nationwide star spangled bus tour, “

Which she abandoned...

Oh please. Drop the drama routine already.

Sarah's on her own schedule, not some official itinerary that the MSM and the rats can use to trap her with.

If you hadn't noticed, she just attended the premiere of The Undefeated, and is doing a book signing tour with her daughter Bristol. She's got a few irons in the fire, and she's only one person. She'll re-start her tour just as soon as she's ready.

“Just curious, if you only had two choices for the Republican nominee, Rick Perry or Ron Paul, which one would you pick?”

6 months ago I probably would have been forced to go with Perry because of a lifetime of conditioning but things are so out of control that now I would vote Ron Paul. We have to shake this govt up bigtime or we are going to be living in Communist Russia.

I am hoping Perry does not run but I think he probably is and I am worried he will win the nomination and be the next President. I doubt anything would change under a Perry Admin. He would do some fiscal stuff but the size of govt would not shrink.

I don't choose who to "listen to." I make my own determinations.

You should try it sometime.

It may teach you to stop accusing people of following the left just because they don't agree with you.
