That’s a straight out guess on my part. I looked up Kufra in Google Maps. It appears to be Libya’s southernmost permanent human settlement (this excludes Bedouins drifting from oasis to oasis). It is 400 miles inside Libya. 400 x 400 is 160,000 sq miles. I took it down a peg to 100,000 miles to be conservative. It’s basically desert, but oil-bearing desert, which is probably why the Sudanese have ventured in. Venturing 4 miles into a country is a border incident. Venturing 400 miles in is an invasion. And an invasion that requires a serious logistical effort, given that everything has to be trucked in due to the route of march being an arid desert.
As par ususal the job to intervene in Libya was half-a**ed as always under Obama. But of course this is not war...it's something else. It's not an invasion and too will be called something else.
