>>>Perry takes experience straight to Romney. Then it’s a money war for the win.<<<

Precisely, and Mittens has to be knocked out of the race, we nominate him, we’re asking for defeat in the general.

There are 353 entities that the Governor makes appointments to in the state. The 5,495 number is the total appointments, including people who left and the spot had to be re-apointed. It comes to over 500 appointments per year, over 353 entities, which likely translates to 3-5 appointments to a majority of those entities per year.

As for the rest of the article:

*One of the Governor’s Constitutional powers is “the power of the message,” so the fact that he made it known what he was seeking in the legislature is within his authority. And it is no different than any other executive giving a list of things they want to the legislature.

*The complaint that seems prevalent is that Perry has vocalized what he wants the legislature to do, where past governors have just sat there and not said anything and let the legislature do what it wants without any pushback.

*It sounds like speaker Straus couldnt rally the troops, so another representative asked the Governor to try and convince wavering members.

*The rest are just people complaining that Perry is appointing people (which was already brought up) or the usual democrat line that “Republican x” has forever changed the executive office without laying out any specifics.

Nothing in the article shows Perry acted outside of his Constitutional authority, and in fact, the article is just one long list of complaints about one issue, his influence.

The Texas Governor is a Constitutionally weak position, and this article does not refute that.

HEButts and Bill Perry? Check with the TX Legislature they gave Gov. Perry nothing to sign.

It was Perry himself who named the Sanctuary bill as his first "emergency measure" months ago. Just as the gay marriage bill would not have passed without Gov. Cuomo's pressure, so could Perry have given legislators cover for Bob Perry's threats by pushing it one last time.

PERRY WAS AL GORES CAMPAIGN MANAGER IN TEXAS!!! HE IS FINISHED!!!

In 1988. After spending time with Gore, Perry realized he was a Republican, and switched parties in '89. Facts are fun.

Do you have his quotes for those assertions? They sound like campaign issues that the legislature would have to accomplish.

It’s The Corps, not the Corp. It does serve as ROTC and 42% of its members become commissioned officers. He was technically a yell leader, not a cheerleader, and your attempt to attack his masculinity by calling him a cheerleader actually is an insult at women by saying that Perry did something as lowly as a “girls” activity.

I explained why he would legitimately support Gore.

You sound bitter, like maybe you didnt get into the Corps while you were there or maybe Perry just pissed in your cornflakes.

Thanks for being persistant CW! Still those Paul/Medina libertarians will never be satisfied with any facts. That is one of the bigger reasons libertarians never get anywhere, “don’t confuse em with facts, their minds made up”.

Hopefully your staying with it will show the truth to many others that are more interested in the truth and searching for a winnable conservative.

As Governor George W. Bush ran for President in 2000, reporters and pundits trotted out sound-bite versions of a lesson students have been taught about Texas for years: Compared to the U.S. President or the chief executives of other states, the Texas Governor occupies a "weak" office.

If you are not from Texas - please do research on the TTC fiasco - Trans Texas Corridor. that Perry pushed AGAIN AGAIN AGAIN - obamacare style - totally against the will of the people ... a total Graft Attempt - Land Grab travesty ... huge news for much of the last decade in Texas... Also check out the executive order by Perry - after the Legislature refused to pass it - to force pre-teen girls to take a vaccination to prevent venereal warts... WITHOUT PARENTAL CONSENT... Some Conservative Perry is...

Would you allow those positions to go unfilled/open?

Absolutely.

Now there maybe things wrong with Texas but that is how it operates within the way the state was established in it’s constitution a few years ago.

I don't believe the Texas Constitution contains anything about the hundreds of boards and commissions established by the State government to control every aspect of citizens lives. This problem, of course, is found in every state, not just Texas.

Yeah I'm from Texas and I voted for Perry 3 times. Sara Palin governed for a couple of years and has at least as much baggage as Perry. Palin lost...ok..she lost. Blame McCain but she was supposed to bring in the conservatives and they never showed or McCain just sucked too much. Palin is a loser, like Romney or Giuliani. Perry is a winner. Sorry. It's true.

July 4, 2011: [Texas] Rule requiring drivers to prove citizenship now law "As the House early last month debated a must-pass finance bill, one member slipped in language that puts into law a controversial Texas Department of Public Safety policy requiring driver's license applicants to show they're in the country legally.

The amendment, added by Rep. Jim Pitts, R-Waxahachie, to the education funding bill legislators needed to balance the state budget had originally been included in Senate Bill 9, the so-called "sanctuary cities" bill that failed in the special session. It also had appeared in an omnibus homeland security bill by Sen. Tommy Williams, R-The Woodlands, that died in the regular session.

The new law approved last Tuesday makes some tweaks to a 2008 DPS policy that prevents illegal immigrants from getting a driver's license and created a special license for temporary visitors. The rules require Texans applying for or renewing their license to show they are citizens or are in the country legally.

By putting it into law the state potentially undermines an ongoing lawsuit that argues DPS doesn't have authority to check legal status..........."

"ICCtheWay" -- It made me laugh to see your FR name. When we were in Maryland it took the election of a lot of new people, along with a Republican governor to get the ICC (Inter County Connector) finished and a sealed deal. It's construction should be about complete.

For close to 50 years ENVIRONMENTALISTS fought tooth and nail and hammer and sickle but in the end they lost.

Below Gov. Perry and Roger Hedgecock discuss Texas' unsecured international border and the "road."

obama wins elections - does that make him a ‘winner’? Perry wins elections and it sure doesn’t make him a Conservative. Perry has acted strongly and unilaterally against the will of the people more than once... Texans - Conservative Texans beat back the TTC - not environmentalist... Everyday citizens fought and WON again Perry and his push to grab land and line his pockets with kickbacks from Cintas ... Environmentalists were not Perry’s problem in his crusade to force the TTC down the throats of Texans who screamed at every breath - WE DON’T WANT THIS... But Perry persisted against the people and LOST... But he can win elections... Actually ... while I am a Palin fan ....I will take Bachmann - she is head and shoulders above Perry in a primary area - Bachmann is honest. Perry seems to lack that quality...

Since John G. Tower moved to the left in the 1970s, TX has had a habit of elected “pretend” Conservatives; a good label you have coined.
