BATON ROUGE -- An effort started six months ago to recall Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal has fizzled, but the Opelousas man behind the petition will continue trying to oust the governor by running against him this fall.
Ron Ceasar would have needed to gather more than 908,000 verified signatures by early next week to get a recall election against Jindal. Fewer than five dozen have been registered with the Louisiana secretary of state's office.
"We would need all of them by the deadline set. We have only 55 at present, and the deadline is July 5th," Sailor Jackson, a spokesman for Secretary of State Tom Schedler, said Friday.
No one has ever successfully gathered enough signatures to get a recall election scheduled against a statewide or parishwide official in Louisiana.
A full-time Ph.D. student at Southern University, Ceasar said he and his supporters brought in more signatures than what is on file with the secretary of state's office, but he acknowledged the recall election won't happen.

Nah, I just did a Google Image Search for “Epic Fail”, because that Fail was Epic. ;o)
Guess the pilot couldn’t parallel park..(g)
Same here. 55 can’t be be that hard but he may have already reached the limits of cheating to get to 908,000.
Tread lightly there, me bucko. I'm 52 and a 'non-traditional' college student who finished 28 years in the military, raised 3 daughters, put one through college, and now I'm trying to finish my Masters degree. It ain't easy working full time and taking evening/weekend courses.
They must not have tried very hard, I could get 55 signatures to recall Harry Truman, or Peter Pan.
I would have thought he could have gotten that many at a Klan rally. Perhaps he should try dropping in on a few with his Southern U. sticker on his car.
They got 55 signatures? ROTFL!!!! I wonder how many packs of smokes each signature cost them.
Thanks. I laughed out loud when I read that. I will be using it in the future.
I think it is news because it is against a Republican.
And of those 55 signatures, four were from the same family:
Donald
Huey
Louie
Dewey
55 out of 908,000. Epic fail.
Southern University (a HBC) is not noted for intellectual rigor. While I was a manager at IBM in the early 1990s I had a woman who supposedly had a computer science degree from Southern in my department. One day one of my team leads was putting together a presentation and she asked the woman to go calculate the percentages of work done of work required for about ten different work items. When the woman didn’t return in half an hour with the results of this two minute job, the team lead went looking for her and found that she hadn’t done anything at all. When she asked her why, the woman told her she didn’t know how to calculate percentages. I would never hire a Southern University graduate.
“At the time the petition was filed, Ceasar listed his wife as vice chair, but she later said she wasn’t involved with the effort.”
Bwahahahaha!
Google N366PX, you’ll see info about the crew failing to set parking brake after use, during the night it just sorta wandered into a culvert.
I doubt Ron Ceasar is doing it your way. From the full article, it sounds like he has a lot of time on his hands when not in school. (Also sounds like a liberal flake.)
Hope you have success getting the Masters.
I ROFL! “...fails... short...” Bwaaa ha ha ha ha!
More of this, please, dimowits.
The dope and pocket change crowd are losing faith fast.
Jindal has made a lot of tough decisions in trying to balance the budget in Louisiana. By doing this he made a good number of enemies by cutting down funding for the public universities. This Ceasar guy made a whole lot of noise here locally and received a lot of free press when he announced very publicly he was going to have Jindal recalled. I guess it did not work out well for him. That is why it’s news.
Thanks
