South? Out of the US?
They come in by illegal means, but they can return by the bridge with cars (and other stuff) they acquire after being here for a while. Lots and lots of car thefts in my area right before Mexican holidays ... before they go home.

Yes, South out of the US. Not sure if they were just taking goodies home to their families still in Mexico or if they were returning because the economy is so bad.
I saw a lot of CA license plates and a fair number of AZ plates as well.
