This whole lavish prisoner exchange thing makes a grim mockery of Israel’s previous “no deals” policy.
If they hadn’t started doing this in the first place, Gilad Shalit would never have been taken by Hamas. It would not have been considered worth the trouble.
Catch one terrorist, a minor actor, and release him, and then say “We did our part. Now you release Shalit”. If they fail to do so, declare them in breach of the only deal they’ll ever get, find them and kill them.
