Does that also include ex-governors who move to Arizona?

There are only two breeds of Yankees from out west. Socialista californius and Socialista washingtonius, which is similar to, but not to be confused with Socialista beltwayan (The kudzu of DC.)

Lady, just Google Perry/amnesty. If I’m wrong, rub my nose in it. I don’t expect to hear from you again ;-)

I've done my research. If you have something to add, fine. You obviously know how to work a keyboard. Let's see what you have besides hot air.

This year the legislature in Texas killed proposals that could have reached his desk and forced him to put his signature on some sort of action against illegals.

Are you holding Perry responsible for the fact that the state legislature did not pass these laws? That is the responsibility of the Lt. Governor (runs the state senate) and the speaker of the house. Perry did put illegal immigrant legislation on the special session agenda - he can't make the legislature pass it.

Who is the “true conservative” in the race? Just curious as to your definition.

Perry did not veto the bill in May of 07. He could have been a BO and crammed it down our throats like OBAMACARE.

“If you show up illegally, without your card or you’re here as a criminal element, I’m for throwing the book at those folks, but the issue of people who want to legally, thoughtfully and appropriately come to America to work and help us build our economy — we should quickly come up with a program and an identification card to do that.” [end excerpt] Source

Generally, Open Primary refers to primaries open to any voter regardless of any previous declared or voted party affiliation, not to races being wide open. But I think you know that, as your analysis seems correct to me. Some things posted in a thread yesterday about winner-takes-all primaries educated me and reinforced how easy it is for the political pros to accomplish what you described in your post, by backing muktiple selected candidates in different states.

Hope you guys didn’t hurt yourselves in your knee-jerk responses. Since he has been re-elected, it seems Perry has a certain level of broad appeal in TX but since the TTC was stopped by conservative opposition, I’d say Perry is legitimately exposed for criticism when measured against conservative principles.

As noted by some other FReeper responses to you, I don’t expect lockstep agreement but I think it reasonable to measure against conservative/Constitutional principles. You can take your proto-Godwin’s Law accusations and go on down the road. I don’t think you have found a good fit here.

Rather than going to battle against the Commie, BHO,this guy prefers to lock horns with GWB?

Well, it doesn't sound like he is "locking horns" with GWB - but he is trying to separate himself from some of GWB's less popular actions. I liked Bush for how he handled the War on Terror, and I think Bush is a genuinely good man. But I don't think he was as fiscally conservative as he should have been, and I think he was too much of a "big-government" conservative, if there is such a thing. It does not make Perry a RINO to make that distinction.

Does this look like Perry is for ‘Open Borders’??

>Perry adds immigration issues to lawmaker session
Perry wants passage of a measure requiring every person arrested to be run through the federal immigration databases as part of the Secure Communities program. He also wants to provide the state Department of Public Safety with the authority to make sure someone is in the U.S. legally before issuing a driver’s license.

>These measures, along with a ban on sanctuary cities, would “provide a clear message that Texas will not turn a blind eye to those breaking our laws,” Perry said in a statement.
“Texas owes it to the brave law enforcement officials, who put their lives on the line every day to protect our families and communities, to give them the discretion they need to adequately do their jobs,” Perry said.
http://www.rickperry.org/media-articles/perry-adds-immigration-issues-lawmakers-agenda-0?amp

>Gov. Perry has made numerous requests of the federal govt. to enforce the border in Texas including handing President Obama a letter in person when he landed in Dallas last year.
(Obama insulted governor Perry when he turned away and Perry had to hand the letter on the illegals issue to presidential adviser Valerie Jarrett. Obama declined to personally accept it.)

>Gov. Perry refuses to meet/greet Obama in May 2011 at El Paso during his Texas tour.
Perry later declared, “If he wanted to meet, I was in Austin.

>Perry signed into law photo ID required before voting.

.

WHAT have other states done?? (with the exception of AZ Ok and Ga)
What have other candidates stated that they would do?
What has Sarah stated she would do?
What is Backmann’s plan?
What did Reagan do?
President Ronald Reagan was the first president in history to grant amnesty to illegal aliens. On November 6, 1986, he signed into law the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) of 1986, [PUB L 99-603]. In so doing, he set a precedent whereby the United States would not seek to deport illegal aliens, but to reward their lawbreaking by granting them full citizenship.

NEWSFLASH! None of them are going to do much.
We have to take the best of the lot.

"...members of the Koch family, which helped finance the Tea Party movement..."

Oh really. Funny, my local Tea Party group never saw a dime from the Koch family. Or any other deep pockets organization.

We're just a bunch of neighbors who were sick to death of the perilous slide of our country, and mad enough to get together and make a noise about it.

That group has grown to be huge, but it's still funded just like it always has been - with donations out of the members' pockets, which we leave in a big jar inside the church door.
