Sutter Health in Sacramento said today that a New York-based national labor union has agreed to pay it $6 million and offered an apology to settle a long-standing legal dispute.
The six-year legal battle revolved around Unite Here's allegations that Sutter used soiled linens in its maternity wards.
In early 2005, Unite Here, which represented the workers at laundry contractor Angelica Corp., sent about 11,000 postcards to households in Northern California, warning recipients they "may be bringing home more than your baby if you deliver at a Sutter birthing center."
Angelica Corp. contracted with Sutter to clean sheets and towels for a number of its hospitals.
Sutter subsequently sued Unite Here, alleging defamation.

Well private enterprise won here but it didn’t answer the question of whether Sutter has more issues with cleaniness than other places.

Assuming they actually pay. The story says “they agreed to pay,” which means that their shysters can probably stall until they can mail the check—with a $6 mil stamp on the envelope.
The union thugs will simply up the monthly dues to cover the $6 million. the union thugs will just up the monthly dues
