Who killed YIISA? It's a kind of academic murder mystery. YIISA—for those who have not caught the scant coverage of this deeply disturbing development—stands for the Yale Initiative for the Interdisciplinary Study of Antisemitism. Or should I say stood for that, till Yale, in a cowardly, clumsily-executed maneuver, abolished the program in the first week in June.

When the study of anti-semitism is undertaken in a multi-disciplinary manner, what exactly does that entail?
Does that mean there is a class in the music department that focuses on anti-semitism, while there is also a class like that, say, in the physics department?
I’m really unclear on this.
I assume that anti-Semitism would be taught not only under Religious Studies, but under Ethics, History, Political Science, etc. Probably not Music or Accounting.
I believe it is indeed possible to teach classes in Music History and/or Music Appreciation with an “antisemitism” theme...tho I agree that they probably wouldnt...and absolutely should not.
I dream of the day that potential students can FORCE a college to write an essay on a subject that they choose, such as: “Why did you (i.e., Yale) disband your study of Anti-Semitism?”
Gay White Ghetto in New Haven ends center on study of antisemitism because the center looked at modern Islamic antisemitism.

What’s to study? There’s genteel anti-Semitism, Mideival myth anti-Semitism, outright Jew Hatred, and 1001 flavors in between. It’s easy enough to identify, and requires very little study, and much more action.
