Gallup's Job Creation Index was at +15 in June. While this does not differ much from the +14 of May or the +13 of April, it is the highest since September 2008's +16.
The Job Creation Index has increased steadily if marginally in 2011. This continues a pattern that began after the Index matched its low point of -5 in April 2009, and is consistent with the improvement in the overall U.S. job situation over the past couple of years.
Hiring Increases Modestly in 2011
The Job Creation Index score of +15 in June is based on 33% of workers nationwide saying their employers are hiring and 18% saying their employers are letting workers go. Between 18% and 19% of workers have said their employers are reducing staff size throughout the first half of 2011. However, there has been a slight increase in the percentage saying their companies are hiring employees and expanding their workforces, from 29% in January to 33% in June.

2008? Who was president then?
Pravda lives on in the US and even has helpful posters on FR.
Put down the crack pipe !
The credit for any improvements in the job situation, especially among the states should be given to the governors and legislators of the states themselves.
I can count several states where the situation seems to be improving since the beginning of this year with new governors and legilatures. Some who come to mind are — John Kasich of Ohio, Nikki Haley of SC, Scott Walker of WI, Rick Scott of Florida...
If I understand the article correctly, the above scenario would be described as two-thirds good news, one third bad news, and reason for optimism.
I guess this must be "Summer of Recovery 2.0", but I'm waiting for Idiot Joe Biden to tell us.
PS: If you really believe this, I have some swamp land down on a bayou in Mississippi I need to discuss selling to you.
A lot of the hiring is part time
Perhaps Gallup should stick to things they understand.
Like tic-tac-toe...perhaps.
Temp agencies hiring out more than usual. My guess is that full time permanent
positions are a relic.
“Gallup’s Job Creation Index was at +15 in June”
Heavens to Betsy some good news sort of. Next thing you know Obama will start whizzing $1 per gallon gasoline.
I can't get real worked up over this. It's based on surveys of people reporting what they think their employer is doing.
Said another way, gossip has it that 67% of employers are not hiring and 1/4 of those are actually laying off
This seems to be one of those surveys like the CEO, Purchase Manager and the Credit Manager index. What Gallup can’t (or didn’t) tell us is what the number should be to indicate increasing employment rate. I would venture to say that the number should be close to 30.
A decline in hiring when the democrats had the white house, the House and Senate. An incline when the Republicans took back the House. Hmm.
''There are some structural issues with our economy where a lot of businesses have learned to become much more efficient with a lot fewer workers. You see it when you go to a bank and you use an ATM, you don't go to a bank teller, or you go to the airport and you're using a kiosk instead of checking in at the gate.'' -- Obama on NBC's Today Show, Wednesday, June 15, 2011.

Zer0 thinks that an ATM ate an American's job.
Lets hope his economic stupidity will send him back to Chicago in January of 2013.
Double plus good, Brother!
Galluping in to the rescue?
Yep, we’ve heard all this before. We are now in what, the second or third summer of recovery?
Let me know when those new unemployment claims drop below 425 thousand for a significant period of time. Let me know when unemployment drops below 8%.
Obambi’s darier is exposed. Can’t have that...
“Perhaps Gallup should stick to things they understand.”
Apparently they understand the concept of “cookin’ the books”.
Looking Good!
