Pelosi Announces Hearing on Risks of Default to the U.S. Economy and Jobs July 06, 2011
Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi announced today that the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee will hold a hearing this Thursday at 12:00 p.m. on the impact of a default on the United States economy, job creation, and seniors and the middle class. This hearing, the only one in the House of Representatives on this critical issue, will emphasize the pain the American people would face if the United States were to default on its debt.
Witnesses for the hearing include:
Bruce Bartlett, Columnist, Former Advisor to Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush Alan S. Blinder, Professor of Economics and Public Affairs at Princeton University, Co-Director of Princeton’s Center for Economic Policy Studies Heather Boushey, Senior Economist, Center for American Progress Matthew J. Slaughter, Associate Dean of the MBA Program and the Signal Companies’ Professor of Management at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth
Why doesn’t the House Leadership due an Investigation into Nancy Pelosi’s role in creating the crisis?
This is as bad as Gorelick sitting on the 9/11 commission.
Because they have no courage, and because they are all members of the same country club. Term limits. Strict ones. The only true fix.
What pain would that be? Most economist are predicting it will cause interest rates to soar, to me that means a big return on my investments. My home and car are paid for by the way. So Nancy, how would a debt default hurt me?
What a smokescreen. Maybe she doesn’t realize that we all have credit cards and know that no matter how much debt you have, if you keep up with the payments, then you don’t go into default.
We can keep up with the payments without borrowing more, but her precious government will have to be cut.
That strange wooshing noise you just heard was the entire MSM climaxing in their pants.
Don’t see one person in there who has ever held a job outside of government or academia.

Folks, the fact that POTUS Obama has let Nancy Pelosi attend his default sessions and hold meetings on the default deadline tells you that POTUS Obama is concerned about only one thing, maybe two, his golf game and his next boondoggle trip, courtesy of the USA taxpayer. He cares nothing about the default and has no credible ideas on how to cope and avoid it, other then raising taxes and adding more debt with useless spending programs. The guy needs to be thrown out of office by forcing his resignation!!!!
Seems to me that the abject fear of not raising the borrowing limit by the MSM and Rats should indicate it is a good thing to do. (borrowing limit) is what the GOPS should call it.
When her favorite constituents default on their Barney Frank Mortgages, they have all that extra money to spend on new cars, big screens, and bling...
I don’t see how Pelosi can see a downside to this on a national scale...
Heck - she might even get her personal airliner back!!!
Conservatives need to make the case, that by not raising the debt limit, they are simply following the budget created by Democrats last year.
It’s the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee that’s gonna do the hearings not the House at large.
Still just a sham podium for dilusional dems to harp on how Repubs are gonna kill women, children and old folks. Same ol’ crap... just a different toilet.
This is not a real committee of the House. Pelosi can’t hold hearings on anything that are official without the GOP’s approval.

Let me guess...
If Repubs don’t raise the debt limit, grandma will be forced to eat dog-food, blacks may start killing each other, and those poor government employees won’t be able to buy a big boat to go with the vacation home, on their 300K retirement income.
