I hate to disagree with DeMint because I love the guy but I think a balance budget ammendment is a bad idea. Congress is supposed to be fiscally responsible. Thats their job. Others on this thread are right that all a balanced budget ammendment will do is encourage raising taxes to pay for more spending. VAT tax here we come.
