It is YOU sir who is the liar!

Bigun absolutely HATES the communist inspired, class warfare inducing income tax! It is unworthy of any people who would call themselves free! It has made slaves of us all and Bigun, along with millions of others, is trying to do something about that! You and Lewis and a few others on this forum are just noise in the background and nothing more!

So taxing 23% of the gross receipts of business is somehow not marxist?

You’re somewhere out left of Obama for sure!

YOU are totally clueless as to what you are talking about and so is your buddy Lewis!!

The fairTax is an EXCISE on articles of consumption! The exact same kind of tax that virtually every single one of the founders of this nation endorsed and if they were here today they would be helping ME!

VAT tax requires 16th Amendment to be in effect. FairTax provides for sunset if 16th not repealed.

Original Constitutional tax provisions provide for indirect tax and for direct tax with apportionment. VAT doesn’t fit.

FairTax fits original Constitution tax provisions as indirect tax uniformly applied.

Ergo FairTax is not a foot in the door to VAT, and FairTax is not a VAT.

These “fair” taxers are a real ‘tolerant’ bunch!

(just like Obama & co.)

The Income Tax was simple once too.
Replacing it with a Flat Tax or Fair Tax for reasons of simplicity will suffer the same eventual fate of extreme complexity.

“we could end up with both an income tax and a national sales tax. The politicians in Washington would love to have both sources of money.”

There is nothing preventing us from getting both right now.

“We have no real world examples of what a fair tax would look like in action.”

How about TN or I think Florida has no income tax.

I like the national sales tax over the income or corporate tax simply because it smacks every citizen in the face with every purchase that they make. They are reminded every day of the burden of the federal government. This alone would become the single most useful tool to advocate shrinking the fed gov’t.

How do you propose that the flat tax bring the total cost of the federal gov’t into light? I think it still maintains corporate taxes at a different level, so that tax is going to remain buried in the cost of goods.

These would be the same people who never looked at their check stub or a tax return?

I guess they won't notice (the promised) 20+% reduction in prices, 100% paycheck (appearance of a huge raise in pay) and a government check/deposit every month because of being smacked in the face with a tax on a receipt they'll never look at either.

How do you propose that the flat tax bring the total cost of the federal gov’t into light?
Seriously? You think the Fairtax would bring the total cost of government to light?

Do you watch or listen to the news? The tax they collect is a pittance to what they spend. You can't seriously think the Fairtax would change that.

Oh brother, so what? In fact I say tax ONLY corporations and eliminate personal income taxes. I think it's amusing that you never hear corporations complaining about their taxes. Shift the taxes to them and watch them get action on reducing taxes and spending.

If you don't like corporate taxes don't buy anything from a corporation.

Corporate taxes are a percentage of their taxable profit. You pay more in taxes on gasoline than you pay in embedded corporate tax to the oil company...I thought you were an accountant.
