Caylee was murdered. That's not the issue. The problem was, the prosecution never proved beyond a reasonable doubt who murdered her. Sure, we all think it was her mother. But there was never any direct evidence presented that backed up that assertion. That's where the case fell apart.
Actually you are wrong. One of the jurors stated the biggest problem they had was that the prosecution did not prove she was murdered. No cause of death. If that is true then they are idiots. We know Casey was involved in hiding the body because she said so. Not sure what more you need. Child is dead, it was obviously not an accident, mom admits she was there.
i agree with that. However, no one, not the defense or anyone else, has a good explanation for why Casey waited 30 days until she reported her daughter missing.
So there might be doubt as to who murdered Caylee. But there is NO DOUBT that Casey was at least an accomplice to murder. Why wasn't she charged and convicted of that?
It's very clear Caylee Anthony was murdered. What is not clear --- because there's no direct evidence --- is who did it. We don't even know how she was murdered: Drowning? Chloroform overdose? Suffocation?
For all those who are sure that Casey did it: what would be their response if Casey's mother, or father, or some former boyfriend/babydaddy showed up, provided physical evidence (e.g. a video), and confessed to the act? Would they still say "No, that can't be, because I'm sure Casey did it"?
They couldn't, honestly. Because there's no physical proof.
As for Biblical law: Deuteronomy requires two eyewitnesses to murder in order to impose the death penalty. In those days, they didn't have access to evidence like tapes, forensic autopsies, and DNA, but they sure understood the concept of "beyond a reasonable doubt."
The decomposing body of the little girl was present in the trunk of her mother’s car for some period of time, long enough so that the aroma of death pervaded the vehicle. Her mother kept on driving, dancing, sleeping around, lying, deliberately misleading those trying to find the child, and...partying. And you don’t think she murdered her?
How about this test: Would you let Casey Anthony babysit your child or grandchild?
Right, but I didn’t think that the defense HAD a defense.
Who was the last person to see Caylee alive? (there was no human nanny. The only "nanny" was Xanex. No one else was with Caylee during the day. The Guilty Person.
Who lied for 31 days about Caylee's whereabouts? The Guilty Person.
It would take a lot more to convince me Casey DIDN'T murder Caylee.
