I’ll say it, I know it’s blasphemy here, but SOME socialism isn’t a bad thing. The social safety nets we often speak of, are good things. It when safety nets are twisted and inflated to form a way of life that the whole thing falls apart.

Fiscal responsibility is key.

The original 13 colonies had some socialism on the local level. Local taxes went to caring for the poor.

Nothing wrong with that.

It’s when the Federal Govt creates life-long entitlement programs, and encourages people to get on it in order to create a dependent class, that we get into problems.

The U.S., U.K. and France are the way NOT to do it. They have created welfare states.

Sweden is very socialist, but it is also a very homogenous, cohesive nation. And they don’t punish and exploit businesses like the American govt.
