I disagree. Once a Special Prosecutor takes over, there will be no further Congressional hearings. This crime needs to be exploited and kept in public view.

Fast and Furious is a gift from Obama we should not squander. I hope Issa slow walks his inquiry. Plan the hearings and revelations such that a Contempt of Congress citation is issued against Holder next August. Follow that with his prosecution and careful leaks that implicate Obama all the way up to the election.

Two can play the October surprise game. Let's do it.

Special prosecutors are appointed by the Attorney General.

I can't imagine that anybody is anxious to have Eric Holder make that appointment. Or, if he recused himself (as John Ashcroft did when Fitzgerald was named to investigate the Plame Affair), trusts him enough to designate an AAG to make the appointment.
