This is corporatism: an alliance between big businsss, the unions and government. Another name for this is fascism, absent only the militarism. Of course, without the militarism, it might be called national socialism. Label matter less, of course, than the reality. We are in the hands of an elite who think they know what is best. Democracy in America has always resisted this natural development, which historically is normal. Here the people rule: that is the motto of the House is it not? God willing the majority in the House will take a stand against “the ruling class.” WEe will soon see.

Hard to believe we’ve gotten here from Mt Etna. However, I now see where you’re going. Don’t pretend to be the sharpest knife in the drawer.

I think German business men had the idea of joining the inevitable Nazi rise to power solely to protect themselves to the maximum extent possible from an outright government take over. The Krupp’s and Benz’ were around along time before the paperhanger pulled off the coup. They intended to be around after he left. In other words it was an opportunistic alliance.

In America Wall Street senior management is Marxist. As for GM and Chrysler managements, they sold themselves out to the Marxists, too. Fascism is not remotely a possible outcome of our present situation. Unless we kill the Marxist beast now we will have a very hard time returning to our Constitutional roots.

IMHO you’re looking at the American situation and trying to apply explanations, that were relevant in the past, as a means of predicting the future. We’re in a new ball game here.

An ideology is attempting to destroy our Constitutional and Republican (as in form of gov’t) roots.

Businesses attempting to gain competitive advantage by working gov’t via lobbying or whatever is the least of our worries. Marxism is our enemy and we need to focus on killing it. The time for academia is long gone. We’re in a bare knuckle fight for survival of the greatest economic and social engine the world has ever know. And what is attacking us? Marxism a system that’s failed where ever it’s been tried. An irony: At the same time we’re fighting Islamoterroists in another crusade. These idiots who haven’t progressed socially or economically beyond the 17th century, think they have something to offer—not much different than Marxism.
