Anatomy of a Scandal – Project Gunrunner
Handgun Club of America ^ | July 8, 2011 | by hcaeditor

Handgun Club of America has been following the BATFE Project Gunrunner scandal as it unfolds. Like any government scandal, the media doesn’t always present a clear picture of what’s going on. Fortunately, with this scandal two RKBA advocates were on the ground-floor, so to speak, as the information came out. Thus, we can provide you a chronological look at the scandal as it unfolds.

Below you’ll find a .PDF file that documents the unfolding scandal and provides a good look at the issues involved. You’ll need Adobe Acrobat reader (click to get Acrobat reader free) to read the file if you’ve never used a .PDF file before.

The timeline shows how this scandal developed and allows you to understand just how dishonest and subversive this undertaking was. More importantly, we hope you’ll be as outraged at the implications it has for our country, our government and our constitution.

BREAKING:

A second “Gun walking” scandal is developing in the Tampa ATF field office. It appears that the Tampa field division had it’s own version of Operation Fast and Furious, letting guns “walk” into Honduras in Central America. Tampa’s Operation Castaway mirrors the debacle in Phoenix.

Cordrea says, “Ogden’s 24 March 2009 presser on Project Gunrunner not exactly an admission of gunwalking. On the importance of not “jumping to illusions.”

Come on, do you think that an Attorney General is going to say:

“As part of our new admnistration, Obama has ordered us to let rifles and guns across the border to mexican cartels in straw purchases and see what happens” ? ? ?

LMFAO. This is as close as we are going to get unless these criminals are put under the hot lamp.

Another frustrating article that conflates Operation Gunrunner and Operation Fast and Furious. People are being played like a fiddle by making these operations synonymous. All in hope of this administration being able to say “we didn't even start this program!” because in fact they didn't start Operation gunrunner (so they can say “it's Bush's fault” yet again)...but they did start Operation Fast and Furious.

NATIONAL CAMPAIGN TO FIRE ATTORNEY GENERAL ERIC HOLDER

Wayne LaPierre

Dear Fellow American:

I’ve just returned from the border between the United States and Mexico and I’ve never witnessed anything like the stinking, rotten level of murder, corruption, cover-up, and conspiracy confronting us today.

This conspiracy ignited two years ago when U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder claimed that your Second Amendment rights are to blame for the drug crimes and killings in Mexico.

Holder and other top-level Obama Administration figures — even the President himself — claimed that 90% of the guns used by violent drug cartels were coming from American gun dealers.

In short, they blamed our Second Amendment rights for the violence of the Mexican drug cartels.

But leaked U.S. State Department cables have exposed this as a bald-faced LIE.

They started in under the umbrella of Gun Runner, but F&F was entirely of Obama’s making, and the doj letter, and the presser by the ass. ag seems to allude to that.

I wonder what would happen if CIA finally had enough of Obama’s bungling and provided all the evidence to Congress of who knew what and when they knew it. Better release it through Drudge and Fox news and watch the MSM spin in their graves, especially NBC, MSNBC, CNN, and NYT.

What and or who started under the umbrella of operation gunrunner? The only links between these two seperate programs are that this administration is trying to conflate them. Do a google search for operation gunrunner and you will see that they have all but become synonomous. Do you realise the huge error this is by people who should know better?

Yes. I saw that headline but didn't read the article.

As IMHO I already knew they did, or had to. Because there was no way these Mexican Cartels were getting Grenades, Rocket Launchers and Rockets (aka: Artillery), plus Full Auto Weapons from Wally World or any Gun Show or Store.

It had to be one source where these 'American Guns(1)' were coming from -- The US Government.

(1) Many regular folks don't know that our Special Operations Warriors have basically every type/make of weapon in the world in their 'weapons locker'. But the folks see: 'AK-47', and think -- Gun Show or Gun Store. Not from our gubmint.

an aside: We have a lifelong friend who was a Career Soldier (retired as an E8, Master Sergeant (Diamond in center) and spent most of his years in the Special Forces (MOS 18E). First with the 5th SF Group then the 10th SF Group. And back in the 80's their preferred weapon for a lot missions was the UZI.

Yes of course. But the money in the stim bill for fast and furious was listed as Gun runner.

I know the difference and of course the obama Junta is going to try to confuse the two.

ATF’s Fast and Furious Seems Colored With Shades of Iran/Contra Scandal

The operation that has put Melson in the hot seat before Congress is known as Fast and Furious, which was launched in October 2009 as an offshoot of Project Gunrunner — ATF’s larger effort to stem the flow of illegal weapons into Mexico

The problem with that is that the CIA may feel like kids in a candy store with doofuses like 0bama and Holder in charge. They are both sharp as banana peels and eminently black mailable. For an agency that wants to do whatever they feel like doing and get funding approved for wild-eyed black bag projects what could be better for them?

That's how they play the game. As I understand it, F&F was run under the Gunrunner umbrella and funded by Gunrunner.

You are correct though, not the same programs at all.
