>Sorry, this is a violation of the 1968 GCA. The Federal Government was specifically forbidden to do exactly this.

Which portion(s)?
And are those portions superseded by newer legislation? (Perhaps something that had to be passed so we could know what was in it?)

I’d have to read the law again but basically, the GCA specifically prohibits the Government from maintaining a database of firearms and owners. The only exception to this is the NFA and multiple purchases of handguns.

I’d like and explanation of how Obama thinks he’s getting around this. I’m an FFL and if I am mandated to do this, I will be raising some serious legal concerns and questions. I will not be party to violating Federal Law just because some idiot in the White House or DOJ says that I need to do it. If they want me to do it, they will need to a. Give me a section of law that authorizes them to make that demand and b. a court order to do so. My ass will be covered 9 ways to Sunday if they mandate this... I’ve been keeping a close eye on how they’ve treated the businesses that cooperated with their “Fast and Furious” investigation. I won’t play their Huckleberry.
