Chip Reid: Thank you, Mr. President. You said everybody in the room is willing to do what they have to do, has to get done by Aug.2. Isn't the problem the people not in the room--in particular-- the Republican Presidential Candidates-- Republican Tea Party on the Hill-- and the American Public? The latest CBS news poll shows only 24 percent of Americans said you should raise the debt limit to avoid an economic castastrophe. There is still 69 percent who oppose raising the debt limit. So, isn't the problem that you and others have FAILED to convince the American people that we have a crisis here and how are you going to change that?
President Obama: Let me distinguish between professional politicians and the public at large and the public isn't paying attention to the ends and outs of how a treasury auction goes. They're worrying about their family, their jobs, their neighborhoods. They've got a lot of things on their plate--we're paid to worry about it- ah ah- I think it depends on how you phrase the question. If you said to the American people is it a good idea for the United States not to pay its bills and potentially create another recession and throw millions of more people out of work -- I feel pretty confident that I could get a majority on my side on that one and that's the FACT-- (Okay at this point Obama goes on and on so I will stop here) Go over to C-Span if you want to view it all. Tea Party people he did not even acknowledge you when Chip Reid said you were not in the room. So, Obama still refuses to even recognize you and what you did in the last election. Historic gains of picking up seats in Congress that has not happened in 70 years. Hopefully, next year you can say to Obama, do you hear us now? And, what will the powers that be at CBS News do to Chip Reid for telling the President that he FAILED?

His plan is akin to somebody paying the minimum balance on a credit card every month, while at the same time asking the issuer to raise your credit limit amount.
In other words "We are much smarter than you. Shut up and do what you're told!"

I’ve always felt that I have a pretty high tolerance for arrogance from government officials, given that I have seen so much of it in my lifetime friend nearly inured to it.
But this piece of crap really takes the cake. I have never in my life seen a president as arrogant as this one.

There's the set-up. The problem is the Republicans and the public. Not the media, not 0 -- the 69% of U.S. that OPPOSE 0 are the problem, not the 96% of blacks (who would NEVER support 0 just because he's black -- THAT would be racist), and the remaining 15% of non-black U.S. who would proclaim it their favorite flavor if he cr@pped in a cup and called it ice cream.

Wow. What a softball opening to let 0 off the hook on any tough answers. The whole set-up and question comes down to:
'Mr. Peas-0-dint, YOU understand, WE (the media) understand -- the problem is those foolish republicans and stoopid U.S. citizens (all 69% of them) who DON'T undertand. Please use my question as a forum so you can blah-blah the whole "their fault, and they will cause the sky to fall" blather ONE MORE TIME.'
In fact, the whole thing stinks of being a planted question.

I hope the evil, anti-American thug is the one who is out of touch, and most Americans have finally recognized that “new programs” are a huge part of the problem. No country, not even the (formerly) richest country in the world, can afford to play Santa Clause, because the greedy always want even more. I can’t wait for January 20, 2013, when I pray that this terrible national nightmare will end.

I am now fully aware that I am so stupid that I cannot understand the fine points of not raising the debt ceiling and not raising taxes in a recession.
How stupid I was to not realize that by taking on more debt, people and countries would fall all over themselves to lend me money.
And what an utter maroon I am to not realize that by not taking on more debt shows me as being a deadbeat whom nobody or country would dare lend me a fricking dime.
And what the Hell I would buy for a dime eludes me at the moment as I can't think of a thing I can buy with it.
I am so glad that we have professional politicians to take care of things like this so I can stand in line for Harry Potter tickets before my wealth gets spread around.
