Perry Stalks Iowa; Will Boot Drop Soon?
Investors Business Daily ^ | July 12, 2011

......Perry also leads a state whose population is growing as its economy grows, a stark contrast to the debt-ridden, job-killing stimulus the Obama administration imposed on the country. It picked up four new congressional seats in the 2010 census as businesses and job-seekers flocked to the state.

The issue of the economy would be Perry's trump card in a potential race against Obama. Texas leads the nation in job creation: From 2008 to 2010, as California lost 1.2 million jobs, Texas added 165,000.

Michael Cox and Richard Alm of the Center for Global Markets at SMU's Cox School of Business report: "From January 2000 to June 2010 (under Perry), Texas had a net increase of 1.1 million jobs. ... Texas eclipsed the total of the next five job-creating states: Florida, Arizona, Virginia, Utah and Washington."

Texas is a right-to-work state, one of those targeted by a National Labor Relations Board that has taken the position that only union jobs are worth creating. Tort reforms, including medical malpractice reforms, signed into law by Perry, have helped make Texas a business-friendly state.

In contrast to President Obama, Gov. Perry has an answer when he's asked where are the jobs: "Right here, in Texas."

The "GIF" I made, that you were responding to, had nothing to do with Palin. It's for the Perry-haters who obsess over Gardasil and TTC as if they are some kind of devastating scandal that will destroy his presidential aspirations.

They are nonetheless substantive concerns, for they do in fact deal with policy positions.

Which is why they have to do with Palin: her criticism is based on personal dislike.

As far as your screen name: "Con-Man" is and has been a specific term, so there is still room for confusion.

But thanks for the alternative interpretation.

Cheers!

Sorry it’s taken me so long to answer this; sometimes life gets in the way!

Links followed by relevant excerpts:

http://theconservativetreehouse.wordpress.com/2011/07/09/rick-perry-for-president/

“...his refusal to make any serious attempts to do something about the ongoing invasion of Texas by illegal aliens. Not only has he not tried to stop it, he has actively opposed efforts by others to do so, and even rewarded the invaders by signing a bill that lets their children pay in-state tuition at Texas colleges and universities. Soon after becoming Governor, he said Mexican “President Fox’s vision for an open border is a vision I embrace.” He said that Arizona’s landmark immigration law, SB 1070, “wasn’t right” for Texas. He opposes a fence on the border to stop illegal aliens in their tracks. While he will occasionally throw conservatives a bone on the illegal immigration issue, by backing one minor bill or another, it’s clear his heart isn’t in it, and it just makes him look unprincipled.”

“Amnesty

Rick Perry often gives speeches about illegal immigration, but when you look at the facts, he has been incredibly soft on the issue. Eric Holder is soft on immigration and against SB 1070. So is Perry. Eric Holder talks a tough game while loosening enforcement. So does Perry. A little ritual troop marching on the border does not block illegals from jobs and entitlements. Perry is working on watered down laws to please his Latino constituency. If Rick Perry does not plan to secure the border, then he should not be president, because illegal immigration is absolutely devastating many areas of the southwest United States. Governor Rick Perry supports in-state tuition for illegal aliens, opposes the border fence, supports the Trans-Texas Corridor, and has refused to crack down on services to illegal aliens. He has even stated openly in the past that he has a moderate record on immigration. Link”

Rick Perry Has Concerns over Arizona Immigration Bill

“Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who often makes national headlines for his strong conservative views and flashy style, is the latest Republican to come out against Arizona’s controversial new immigration law.

“I fully recognize and support a state’s right and obligation to protect its citizens, but I have concerns with portions of the law passed in Arizona and believe it would not be the right direction for Texas,” Perry said in a statement.
.....

“Some aspects of the law turn law enforcement officers into immigration officials by requiring them to determine immigration status during any lawful contact with a suspected alien, taking them away from their existing law enforcement duties, which are critical to keeping citizens safe,” Perry said. “

http://therepublicanmother.blogspot.com/2011/06/rick-perry-loves-illegal-immigration.html

“Here’s a blast from the past featuring Mexican President Vicente Fox in 2003 publicly thanking Rick Perry for signing legislation that would give illegal aliens from Mexico free instate tuition at the Texas state college of their choice.

Isn’t that swell?

Fact is, Rick Perry for his entire tenure as Texas Governor, has worked overtime to practically erase our borders. When you factor in his relationship with these one-world elitists, it makes complete sense.

Rick Perry is:

Pro-Anchor Baby
Pro-North American Union
Anti-Border Fence
Pro-Sanctuary City before he was agin’ ‘em
Anti-Deportation of Illegal Alien Criminals

All Perry has to do to erase the fact that he used to be a card-carrying leftist himself (TX campaign manager of pro-abort/huge gov/entitlement Al Gore) is mention succession and talk about being “fed up” with leftists. The big neocon “conservative” mouthpieces just have to repeat Perry’s rhetoric and talk him up and we out here in Red State America are supposed to just lap it up and bark like seals. Hate to tell you guys, but the man’s record is all over the internet and can be punched up by anyone. If Perry does announce his presidential ambitions, I predict a growing number of bloggers are going to be on him like white on rice.”

There are many more, this is just a representative sampling.

Rick Perry for signing legislation that would give illegal aliens from Mexico free instate tuition at the Texas state college of their choice.

Not true...the legislation didn't charge out of state tuition to illegal kids who had gone to high school in TX. They still pay tuition. Big difference.

All Perry has to do to erase the fact that he used to be a card-carrying leftist himself (TX campaign manager of pro-abort/huge gov/entitlement Al Gore) is mention succession and talk about being “fed up” with leftists.

You know that Gore was running as a conservative Democrat from Tenn when Perry was his campaign manager. Perry has never hidden from the fact that he was a Democrat in the past...like most Texans. Gore went one way, Perry went another.

And I've heard most of it before.

Do I think Perry is perfect? Far from it.

Do I think he has the best chance beating Obama? Yes...and that is more important to me than all Perry's imperfections because his worst would be 100X better than BOzo's best. I can't stand the thought of 4 more years of the Obamas.

Have a good one.

Agreed, but, to me, his negatives outweigh his positives (except for the not-obama factor).

Have a good evening.
