A Pair Of B1s Flew From South Dakota To Libya, Bombed 100 Targets And Flew Home
Business Insider ^ | 07/13/2011 | Robert Johnson

The U.S. Air Force has deployed its bombers like never before in the Libya campaign.

Wired picked up a story released by Air Force Magazine detailing a flight made this spring by two B1 bombers from South Dakota to Libya carrying ninety-eight, 500 pound bombs.

During 24 hours of combat time over four days, the bombers destroyed nearly 100 targets.

The B1s were chosen on top of NATO's combined air fleet because each one carries around 24,000 pounds of Joint Direct Attack Munitions and Laser guided JDAMs. To achieve equal destruction would have required dozens of NATO jets.

Has anyone informed Congress of this?

Recall that Boehner made a big show of call 0bama's bluff on the War Powers Act and then has done absolutely NOTHING. der 0berFuhrer Hussein 0bama does as he pleases.

(BTW I expect the same results from Boehner on the debt limit negotiations.)

Yes. Until Obama stabbed Libya in the back. Mubarak was also an ally, stabbed in the back.Gadaffi killed thousands of Muslim Brotherhooders. Eastern libya used to be the largest recruiting center for the Islamofascists fighting US troops in Iraq. Gadaffi pounded them mercilessly from the rear.

I am appalled at the ignorance that America has over what Obama is now doing.

Ninety-eight 500 pounders is 49,000 pounds. I presume this means each bomber carried 49 bombs.

One of the successes of the Bush administration was to flip Qadaffi. He has been an informant for us during the war on terror. After this, we won’t have an easy time persuading any of these types to work for us again, which is part of the objective from Team Obama-Rodham-Abedin, besides the immediate direct assistance to Al Queda and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Thank God I never had to “hep” out with the killing for an illegal President...waging an illegal action...

Of course Libya is not an ally. Kadaffy is and always has been an enemy of the USA. We have no treaty with him. The Kadaffy cheerleaders around here have no regard for our real allies like the UK who supported us in Iraq. They would rather we betray the UK than the mass-murdering islamofascist Kadaffy. We must stand by our real allies and destroy our common foe.

And what are we getting for this massive waste of tax dollars. I’m never been isolationist as that always seems to end in a major world war, but I’m sick to death of us being the world’s policemen. I say bring all of our troops home from Iraq, Afghanistan and all the other military actions in the middle east. Screw em. We’re broke. We don’t have the money to play world police and we haven’t had the money for decades.

Friends tell me the BONE can begin to push back pretty hard on long missions. You really FEEL the seat.

I know that the seats in the BUF were murder on long missions: after about seven hours your butt suddenly felt like it was on fire... and it stayed that way.

The forces during an ejection pretty much dictate a seat pad with almost no give, so I doubt the B-1's a lot more comfortable.

I am envisioning a movie of Gadaffi’s last days on earth...along the lines of Dr. Strangelove with this being the theme music:

The press has not accurately portrayed the support Gadaffi has throughout sub Saharan Africa. They are too busy assassinating Gaddafi at the request of Obama. The entire Bedouin tribe supports Gadaffi. Your prognosis on Gadaffi’s death are much exaggerated. He will outlast Obama.

Just 2 months ago , the MSM drive bys had everyone convinced Gadaffi would be a goner in 2 weeks. Buahahahahahahahaha! Well he love you long time.

What can the Bedouins do to stop a bomb from falling? It isn’t a prognosis by the way...just my mind wrapping around the craziness of dropping these bombs there.

Every time the idjits drop bpombs, they kill civilians. And to boot NATO will not acknowledge the fact. Its a disaster.

And the fascist president of the United States is looking worse than Gadaffi ever did , on the ground in the eyes of Libyans.

Weeks and weeks ago Obama said we are only in a support roll to NATO and are not conducting actual military missions ourselves.

He also said the provisions of the War Powers Act don't apply because we're not at war with Libya.

Having Obama as President means having to believe that bombing another country is not an act of war.

Instead of 787 billion for "Porkulus" they should have spent some of that on these B-1's for the proposed upgrade to the flight deck and avionics systems and engine upgrades to the Pratt and Whitney F119's in the F-22 that would make it supersonic again.

Probably would have done the mission in a shorter frame of time....
