President Barack Obama’s mother had health insurance coverage when she died of ovarian cancer in 1995, a new book about her life claims, raising questions about the accuracy of a story that Obama often told on the campaign trail in 2008.
The revelation, in New York Times reporter Janny Scott’s “A Singular Woman: The Untold Story of Barack Obama’s Mother,” was not denied by the White House after “repeated requests for comment that The Times first made in mid-June,” the New York Times reported on Thursday.

That account, written based on letters between Obama’s mother, Ann Dunham, and Cigna, her insurance company, that the author said were provided to her by Dunham’s friends, appears not to match fully with how her son — “my attorney, Barack Obama,” Dunham wrote in one letter to Cigna — described his mother’s last days on the 2008 campaign trail when he was pushing for health care reform.

“For my mother to die of cancer at the age of 53 and have to spend the last months of her life in the hospital room arguing with insurance companies because they’re saying that this may be a pre-existing condition and they don’t have to pay her treatment, there’s something fundamentally wrong about that,” he said during a presidential debate with John McCain.

“Dunham was extremely ill, and her frustrations in the final year of her life are not for you or I to judge,” Santarelli wrote. “However revelations in Scott’s new book suggest many personal statements made by the President in his campaign and national healthcare reform pitch to be inaccurate.”

Real question should be: why when obama was 33 when his mom was dying didn’t he help her? Why did he abandon her in her time of need? Why did he let her “struggle” with insurance? (Of, course he know she didn’t struggle with insurance but those are the questions that should be asked.)
The fact Politico, the NY Slimes, and other MSM outlets are picking up on this is very interesting to me. If there were one story I would think they would ignore and bury, it would be one that calls into question the basic honesty of their Messiah.
It may be dawning on the media elite that maybe their worship of this false god is misplaced, that maybe those who have been insisting he is an empty suited, narcissistic, psuedo intellectual pretender are actually right.
Paul Ryan was on local talk radio earlier this week and made a very illuminating statement about Obama. Congressman Ryan said he had never dealt with anyone in such a high level of gov’t as Obama. I was screaming at the radio host to get Ryan to elaborate because the implication from the context of the conversation was that Ryan thinks Obama is economically illiterate, disingenous, arrogant, and not all that bright.
From the reports out this week about Barry’s behavior, it seems Ryan is spot on, and now maybe the MSM is finally waking up to the fact Obama is a fraud.
I like the sentence excusing his lie because he is remembering something from “15 years ago” - wasn’t he in school more than 15 years ago? Are we to deduce that he also can’t remember the law?
Good points - also didn’t she move back in with her parents when she was ill? Why would she need living expenses from the insurance co?
That's the kind of “denial” one makes when one is trying to deflect the truth.
If someone had asked, “did you say Michelle Obama was ugly” or some other such statement, I'm sure Bloomberg would have said “no I never said that,” because he would never have said such a thing. “I don't recall the conversation that way” is very weak.
More importantly why didn’t he go to Hawai’i to see his sick, dying mother in her last days like he did with Toots (or was it just a sympathy play in the miidle of the campaign?)

Actually it is much worse than you think. In one of her letters disputing the denial of her short term disability claim, she actually stated that she was going to have her son (Obama) who is an ATTORNEY take action if her claim was denied.
So we know Obama was an attorney at the time, we know from his statements he was aware of her struggles for insurance ‘coverage’, and now we know he lied about what kind of ‘coverage’ that was.
She had insurance coverage for her bills, it was only the short term disability that was at question.
Good points - of course we know liberals want the government to take care of us from cradle to grave, so to them, she was being cheated I guess.
