This is a joke. The Kennedys know that this will save them $53,000 a year in Property Taxes and they can still use the place.
I think there are real tensions among the Kennedys. Ethel and Robert’s kids have no real money, whereas the rest of the offspring do. Kerry Kennedy, one of Ethel’s kids, is a jerk and a loser. She married Andrew Cuomo for political reasons, then jettisoned him when it didn’t look as if he was going anywhere in politics. (Who’s sorry now, Kerry?) Anyway, Kerry and her siblings inherited a paltry million dollars a piece from the Kennedys, which, when you want to live like a celebrity, is about one hundred dollars to normal people. It must drive them nuts that: Ted left real money to his kids (and stepkids); Sargent Shriver made sure his five had some dough (plus, Maria married the Terminator); Caroline Kennedy has Jackie O’s money, etc. For Kennedys, Ethel’s kids are POOR and they want to use the “sainted†memory of RFK to shore up their finances.
