NEW YORK (AP) -- A law enforcement official says the FBI has opened an investigation into allegations media mogul Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. sought to hack into the phones of Sept. 11 victims.

The official spoke Thursday to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to speak publicly.

New York City-based News Corp. has been in crisis mode because of a scandal that sank its U.K. newspaper the News of the World.

The investigation was opened Thursday morning, following a request a day earlier by Rep. Peter King (R., N.Y.) who heads the House Homeland Security Committee and whose Long Island district was home to many victims of the 2001 terrorist attacks.

Haven’t any knowledge of whether it’s a witch hunt or not, but as the Left is prevelant in the UK gov’t, and “justice” system, as well here in the US, and they’ve been blasphemous of Murdoch and News Corp. for years, because they, the Left can’t control them as they do the others, I’d bet it probably is a Witch Hunt.

There’s the timing too. In time to discredit Fox as a source of information this coming election cycle.

IMHO, this is to take attention away from the media matters problem - an entity being subsidized by the government and communists to try and shut the mouth of opposition press.

I smell a rat. This is too artful by half. How convenient that the alleged targets were “911 Victims” a group everyone has great sympathy for. It all just fits together too well. My alarms and sirens are going off big time.

The FBI should investigate the liberal media and the democrat party for subversive activity? We’ve been smelling that stink for decades.

Well, if it works maybe we conservatives could buy it and the first thing we could do is fire Shepard Smith and Juan Williams.

The left-wing fundamentalists who essentially want a single party system will make a lot of hay over this.

Obama and Holder are going to be like pitbulls on this one.

It`s the lifeline they`ve been looking for, “ Hey everyone look over here ! Pay no attention to how I`m destroying the U.S. economy, it`s Fox News that is the entire problem here in America ! “

If a subsidiary of News Corp. illegally tapped 9/11 families’ phones, can the DOJ move to shut down all of News Corp. No
