“A President can’t veto a constitutional amendment.”

Didn’t realize they intend it as an amendment. That just makes it even less likely a Democrat Senate would pass such a thing.

Actually, they might.

If Obama and the dems really believe they have the right side of the argument then the amendment is a great deal for them.

It raises the ceiling without them having to give up anything. And if they’re right, the amendment will just go nowhere in the states and they’ll never have to give up anything.

Then the dems could say “we put in the hands of the people and they rejected it, it’s not out fault”.

Basically it would be a huge bet by both sides on where the public is. The GOP would be betting they’re for the amendment and the dems would be betting against.

I’d take my chances with that
