A Modest Proposal:
In order to raise revenues impose a 3% tax on the 48% of workers who do not now pay income taxes. Any actuaries out there who could come up with the revenues generated by that move?
Alright, 48% of the workforce is around 60,000,000 workers. Say they average $25,000/year. A 3% tax would mean that they would pay $750/year, and that would generate 45 billion dollars. I say do it.
I forgot to mention . . . . the EIC has got to go!
I love this idea.
