Michele Bachmann’s Husband is Gay Meme (Gay Activists Pushing hard on this)
Outside the Beltway ^ | 07/15/2011 | James Joyner

I’ve been hearing whispers that Michele Bachmann’s husband, Marcus, is gay for a while. It’s now exploding into a full-on meme.

Given my early bedtime, I’m always at least a day late on “Daily Show” bits. Last night, I saw this episode from Wednesday:

Now, I admit, Marcus Bachmann is pudgy and has a less-than-baritone voice. But, last I checked, those aren’t the distinguishing characteristics of homosexuality.

Apparently, gay activist Dan Savage has started pushing the meme hard, too. And Slate’s June Thomas is calling him out:

Dan Savage begins each of his “Savage Love Cast” podcasts with a rip-roaring rant—a sword of invective aimed at homophobic school boards that won’t let lesbians attend their high-school prom, hypocritical politicians, and generally despicable people. It’s a rousing start to 45 minutes of sex advice, and it’s usually right on and empowering.

This week, though, the podcast started with an attack on Marcus Bachmann’s masculinity. After a short preamble about the accuracy of gaydar (with a scientific citation, no less), Savage—whom I respect tremendously—played a tape of Michele’s* husband’s speaking voice. Bachmann has a tiny bit of a lisp—though it’s barely perceptible—and he slurs his words slightly. To Savage’s ears, it was a gay accent. Savage played the tape over and over, and reprised it several times throughout the podcast. He even did his own Bachmann impression, exaggerating the lisp and camping it up.

You admit you know little about the topic.

If you were sane, you’d like to learn when you don’t know about something.

In short, the homosexual agenda is busily destroying our freedoms of speech, association and religion. If that means nothing to you, then I hope your continued stay on FR is short.

Oh, and comparing the teensy handful of abortion “clinic” violence to jihad, is not something a conservative would ever do. Odd, that.

With all due respect, you’re full of excrement. Now I remember your nonsense about finding a drug that cures “gay”.

Homosexuality is not something that I am interested in nor do I spend time thinking about it.

The only person in my small town that seems to be "gay" is the Catholic priest. It raised eye-brows when a married couple, man and wife, moved in with him because the two men were rumored to be "sweet" on each other. I'm not Catholic so I don't care what they do on church property.

If you want to spend your time analyzing homos, that is your perogative. I think you are the sicko!

How long I stay on FR is none of your concern...and I think you are an embarrassment to FR.

What is your I.Q. anyway?

Why don’t you like my idea? Religion is good for praying the gay away. What is wrong with finding medicine, a pill, to cure gay.

It’s called “pray the gay away” right? I mean, not technically. How about a pill “gaygoaway”. seriously. They cure mental illnesses with medicine now you know. Tons of anti depression pills. How about an anti gay pill? For men, maybe some testosterone plus an estrogen blocker?

Someone was saying that gays wanted to be cured. I have no idea if they do or what. But if they do, we should figure out what causes gay and how to cure it. It could be too much soy. Were we eating lots of soy 100 years ago? They say soy is estrogen mimicing. That could cause gay.

I really think we should look at this like scientists. The mainstream really tends to respect scientists .

Wow, how crazy are you?

You’re talking about how the homosexual lobby is more dangerous than Muslims, but you don’t think mental illness like homosexuality (or gay for short) can be treated with medicine?

You familiar with Prozac? It’s a drug for a mental illness. They study the issue, and figure out what their abnormality is, what causes it, and how to solve it.

Why is it that gays can say that Marcus is acting like a gay? What does that even mean? What causes people to “act like a gay”? It seems that certain backward elements in the anti gay area want to prevent science from progressing here.

Ah veerry clever analogy—absolutely fits. With this bunch, I wouldn’t be surprised if they took out marble blocks for some other reason; after all, didn’t they return a bust to England. They have done so much in their “enchanting” nearly 3 years, it is hard to keep track of it all.

I didn't say that homosexual agenda pushers were more dangerous than jihad muslims. For one thing. For another thing, your insane position that homosexuals need prozac is more gross ignorance. There are two options - either you're grossly ignorant and want to stay that way, or you're being purposely disruptive. I don't care which, trying to communicate with you is like stepping in something icky. bye

So the homosexual agenda is fine with you. And I'm a sicko for thinking that it is dangerous for America. It's nice to know your position clearly.

Aren’t you posting on other threads that they’re inadequately anti homosexual agenda? I’m saying that rational, mainstream people think that mental illnesses like gay should be treated with science, with medicine. I did not say that prozac would be effective, I simply reminded you that mental illnesses like depression and gay are often treated like medicine.

True anti gay people understand that to reach a majority, they have to use science, which the mainstream public likes, respects, and to some degree trusts, and not use prayer as the main type of treatment. Most normal people think it’s weird, and the anti gay movement is associated with ineffective gay curing like Marcuses. Do you “pray the gay away” yourself? I just don’t understand why you won’t embrace science here, The preaching method is laughed at by most, and we’d want the anti gay leaders, and there should be some, to be science minded people who want to fully cure gay, instead of praying to strength not to bugger.

Marcus Bachmann is embarassing to the anti gay movement, because rational people who understand the demographic problem we have currently (not enough young people - we need more procreation) do not have confidence that prayer will lead to scientific breakthroughs to fully cure these gays.

Here's another one with arugments about how Dr. Bachman is likely a homosexual since he's concerned about the problem, that spiritual counseling is worthless, that he and Michelle Bachman are nuts, that the homosexual agenda is not dangerous and people who think it is are sickos and an embarassment to FR, and so on. All on the thread, comments by members.

"HOW indeed, did Obama escape the media?"

Personally, I think it was part of the plan all along that if he got elected (high probability due to white guilt) he would wait until after he was out of office and come out of the closet as either bi or total queer. That way two groups of faithful fools got their "barrier broken" reward.

I think it is time that conservatives start hitting back on these personal attacks rather than doing what appears to be either laying low or cowering to the leftist bully. This Alinsky method of personally attacking opponents is done by those who are corrupt and promote corrupt ideas that can not stand scrutiny. They deflect from the issues and focus upon the person in hope that killing the messenger will kill the message.

In my opinion, it is real simple to combat these morally devoid leftists. Those that are attacked personally for promoting certain ideas and principles should fight back by getting LOUDER about what it is that promote. Come out further into the light rather than seek the shadows for relief. I say stand firm with conviction in the public square and at the end of the day truth will win out and the mud slinging leftists will be seen for the scum they are.

"So, you don’t nominate a candidate that they will be able to relentlessly mock, effectively."

So, the media should determine the pool of candidates it's OK for Conservatives to select among? They like Romney and they like, really liked, McCain until he was nominated. So, who are they allowing us to select among this year besides Romney? Also, just how many people do you suggest we allow the media to overrule? I mean, if a few million people like someone is that enough to overcome the media veto?

Are you a closet case?

Your comment is no better than the comments from scumbags that attack Bachmann’s husband.

Shame on you!

I really think we should look at this like scientists. The mainstream really tends to respect scientists.

You seem to miss a very important aspect of the scientific approach you advocate for finding a cure.

The obvious first question is cure what? Objectively, what exactly, is any medicine going to cure? We are talking chemistry here.

There has yet ti be found ANY objective physical 'thing' that identifies the supposed 'gay race'.

You want to talk science? How about talking science from step one. Why do you consider people that may be predisposed to an attraction to the same sex cause unknown and may choose to engage in sexual activities with the same sex as 'gay beings. when there is no scientific proof of this NO NADA - ZILCH?

Why don't you begin there first and while doing so ask yourself why even the military had to ask if there was a scientific basis to the claim that there are 'gay beings' rather than men and women who are simply abnormal?

“You both seem more familiar with homosexuals than I am.”

Probably... based on where I live. And I can tell you, based on how I have seen them behave that they are a clear and present danger to the future of this country. You want to protect & coddle them or minimize their threat to this nation - fine. But you won’t do so on my time.

++++++++++

“So, you too think homosexuals are more dangerous to America than Islam? I think that’s weird.”

Just show how out of touch you are. The homosexuals are making far greater strides suppressing Christianity in Europe than are the Muslims. Currently they are laying the legal groundwork in America to persecute anyone who won’t accept their perversion.

+++++++++++++

“So, until the homos declare Jihad on us, I think I’ll continue to think Islam is more of a danger to America...and you can have the homos.”

They have done so. It was published in the late 70’s. If you want to find out about it then get busy and look it up. I’m not going to waste any of my time doing it for you.

You can find out all you would ever want to know about it right here on FR... but your probably too dang lazy to do that.

Someday you’ll lift up your dizzy head from your TV and realize that you no longer have the freedom to oppose the homosexual agenda. “Oh well, back to American Idol...”

Sickening.

End of discussion. Don’t expect a reply.
