SAF, NRA slam U.N. arms treaty as Dems push new gun control scheme
Seattle Gun Rights Examiner ^ | 15 July, 2011 | Dave Workman

Two national gun rights organizations currently monitoring international gun control efforts, including the Bellevue-based Second Amendment Foundation, drew lines in the sand Thursday against a proposed United Nations Arms Trade Treaty, while anti-gun Congressional Democrats push a new gun control measure in "the other" Washington.

SAF's activities at the U.N. this week further bolster the Washington State-based group's growing prominence in the gun rights community, guaranteed by last year's McDonald v. City of Chicago Supreme Court victory, and now on an international scale.

The spotlight was on the National Rifle Association yesterday, however, as Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre threw down the gauntlet, telling the U.N. hands-off of this country's Second Amendment rights. Any doubt that this proposed treaty will face stiff resistance vanished within seconds after LaPierre began speaking.

Whether the new gun control initiative gains much traction on Capitol Hill amid continuing revelations about the Obama administration’s botched gun trafficking sting – it was initiated in 2009, months after George Bush left office, and reportedly bolstered with Obama stimulus funds so the “blame Bush” option is out – remains to be seen.

Critics of the proposed “Stop Gun Trafficking and Strengthen Law Enforcement Act” unveiled today by Reps. Elijah E. Cummings (D-MD), and Carolyn McCarthy and Carolyn B. Maloney, both New York Democrats, have declared it nothing more than an attempted distraction from the Operation Fast and Furious scandal. Essentially, critics argue, Cummings and the two Carolyns are trying to steer the blame for Fast and Furious to American gun dealers and away from the Obama administration’s Justice Department and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

There is no small irony in the introduction of this legislation, the ongoing scandal investigation, and the proposed international small arms pact.

There is a lot of potential for very nasty stuff in this treaty, such as mandatory registration, mandatory annual license fees, mandatory "fees" on manufacturers to be paid to the UN (UN tax), mandatory microstamping of ammunition, etc.

No one knows exactly what will fall out of this, but clearly, it is a treaty designed more to cement the control and power of existing governments more than it is meant to help individuals.

With any luck down the road we’ll get a President and congress with a pair of balls big enough to kick the UN out and tell them to pack sand.

Course that’s wishful thinking in a society that’s so PC it’s totally disgusting.

Before GLOBAL GOVERNANCE can be implemented, they have to destroy the US Constitution, one article and one right at a time.

The $10 question is what are we going to do with the aristocratic locusts who keep voting for government and yet are the ones whipping out rolling cameras everytime “cop violence” is merited upon them...

How to stop gun violence in Mexico: defund and disband BATFE. Doing that in 2009 would have kept 2500 guns out of the hands of Mexican criminals.

By the way, what if I willfully and intentionally violate, with intentional contempt, a United Nations decree? I'd like to do that, by the way, to show intentional contempt for the UN. Ah, here we go; the UN Human Rights Council banned criticism of Islam. I say that militant Islam has nothing to offer its followers other than filth, poverty, ignorance, superstition, violence, and a Dark Age standard of living, and that the HRC consists of a bunch of Stone Age savages not worthy of the respect a gentleman accords a pet or other domestic animal.

All I know is that at the end of the day I will still have my guns...

They can have them after I run out of ammo...And even then that might be a slight problem...I might not “really” be out of ammo...

It will probably pass the Senate.

Have a nice day.

Rick Perry and probably Herman Cain would not have a problem telling the UN to mind their own business and leave the US alone.
