Substitute teacher pleads not guilty to rape

LOCKPORT — A long-term substitute teacher in a Niagara Falls elementary school pleaded not guilty Friday to charges that he had sex with a 14-year-old girl in February.
John T. Summerson, 24, of 76th Street, Niagara Falls, was indicted on one count of second- degree rape and two counts each of third-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.
Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Sperrazza kept Summerson free on the $2,500 bail he posted in Niagara Falls City Court. She set a tentative trial date of Dec. 12.
Assistant District Attorney Robert A. Zucco said Summerson allegedly sexually abused the girl in the first half of February, and then had sexual intercourse with her during the second half of the month. The second sexual abuse charge also stems from that incident.
The child endangerment charges involve a conversation on sexual topics that Summerson had in early March with the alleged rape victim and another girl about the same age.

Not defending this guy, but he hasn’t been found guilty yet from the government cops and government attorneys. He’s only indicted at the moment.
I know there are kids that have lied about this type of thing to get “even” with a teacher they were mad at. Not saying that happened here, but we saw what happened in the DSK case. I didn’t read the whole story but unless there’s pictures or clear evidence other than the girl saying it happened then I’ll reserve judgment.
I’m a huge avocate of not allowing teahers this young in the Jr high and high school levels becuase of this.I remember having a student teacher in the 8th grade when I was 14yo that most of the girls if given half a chance would’ve willing did this.He was gorgeous and often embarassed I”m sure by the fawining he got.Even back then in the 1970’s 14yo females were not children anymore....not really ready for that yet but we didn’t know that then.
Where were teachers like this when I was in school?

Police said the sex was consensual, except for the fact that the age of consent in New York is 17, meaning any intercourse with a person under that age is considered statutory rape.
Well, I guess the 14 year girl old thought it would be Okey Dokey to have sex with a 24 year old teacher .......after all I'm sure he told her he loved her with all his heart

Funny thing about FR. If this were a woman teacher and a 14 year old boy, a lot of folks here would be saying ‘’What a lucky kid!’’.
