President Obama, the American Public, and the Debt Crisis
Gallup ^

Posted on 07/17/2011 1:09:01 AM PDT by MindBender26

President Obama on Monday was asked about a poll showing that the majority of Americans were opposed to raising the debt limit. Obama responded expansively, in essence saying two things. First, that he didn’t think the public was knowledgeable enough to weigh in on this subject (“…The public is not paying close attention to the ins and outs of how a Treasury option goes. They shouldn’t. They're worrying about their family; they're worrying about their jobs; they're worrying about their neighborhood. They've got a lot of other things on their plate. We're paid to worry about it”).

Those Americans following the issue very closely tilt almost as strongly against raising the debt ceiling as those who are not following it closely. In terms of education, college graduates are as likely to oppose raising the debt ceiling as those with some college or only a high school degree. Those with post graduate degrees -- who tilt Democratic in party orientation -- oppose rather than favor the idea of raising the debt ceiling, albeit by a smaller 44% to 40% margin.

The position adopted by Obama in his press conference is Americans’ opinions are not valid since Americans are not paying attention to the debt issues.

The data don’t fully support these contentions, however.

There is little evidence that the most informed Americans and those paying most attention to this issue are heavily in favor of Obama’s position on this issue, as he implied they would or should be, and b) there is little evidence that if Americans are given both the type of argument in favor of raising the debt ceiling suggested by Obama and an argument against raising the debt ceiling along the lines of the Republican position, that they come down heavily in favor of the Obama position.

Obama reached his “Peters Principal” limit as a Community Organiser.

He has been in over his head ever since.

Holy crap. The head of Gallup, one of the more liberal-bent polling groups out there, sounds pissed at Obama.

That is very telling.

His overreach in every aspect of American life from business to military to personal has finally ‘directly’ affected and apparently upset the powerful libs in the media and those behind the scenes. Be hard to pin down exactly what since he’s done such a variety of damage but it hit home for those “supporters” that it was never supposed to touch. Looks like they are going to touch back now. Joy...

Well, welcome to the party guys. A bit late and we doubt you’ll stay long but while you’re here we can use you for all you’re worth just as well as Obama did.

On Monday, the AnointedIdiot dismisses the majority of Americans on their positions concerning raising the debt ceiling.

On Friday, the AnointedIdiot comes out and liez by claiming that 80% of Americans want their taxes raised...you know, the balanced approach.....

How frakin’ quaint from the liar-in-chief who thinks most Americans are stupid, don’t know better and/or enough on/of something, and expects them to shut up and continue to eat cake. =.=

I think the writer is po’ed at having his work simply dismissed by Obama with an airy wave and one of his typical giggles at the stupidity of mere mortals.

Obama’s arrogance and irresponsibility are finally beginning to grate even on liberals.

I read it as: Some folks have looked behind the curtain, but they are too stupid to be able to believe their own eyes. Everyone needs to keep their silly heads away from the curtain so we can keep them in the dark and call them "enlightened" if we can fool them into agreeing with us.

But I tend to be wordy - you summarized it magnificently...

He lies so much that even he, with his marvelous, Marxist brain, is having trouble keeping track of them all. His worst fears are happening, more people are paying attention while fewer are willing to cover for him.

Just shows how pathetic the modern education system really is. The same purge has happened repeatedly throughout history, be it a simple toss in the dungeon for some ‘outlived his usefulness’ adviser the King was too busy to kill or a full blown Stalin/Mao style slaughter.

But for some God forsaken reason, Leftists ALWAYS think that their seat at the table is eternal. Even when it’s the kid seat at the folding table in the other room. What was that quote RR had? “A Liberal reads Marx. A Conservative understands him.”

Idiots. All of them.

President Obama: Let me distinguish between professional politicians and the public at large....

This piece of garbage should be called a liar every time he calls himself a "public servant" or claims to be doing "public service". He sees himself as a paid politician.

I abhor this bastard.

Liberalism has always been a house of cards, underpinned by utopian delusions and revisionist history. This is a heads-up to Obama and his handlers, that the people no longer believe the lies, and thus the house is beginning to crumble.

It is clearly becoming not just the Democratic party's crisis, but liberalism itself is being exposed and is now in grave danger. The author seems to sense this.

If our country can survive until the election, and I believe it can, what will happen to them will make the 2010 "shellacking" seem minor in comparison. Now anger is emanating from both sides.

We are witnessing an epic fail which will relegate the liberals to the political wilderness for a generation or more.
