Libya says Gadhafi government held talks with US

TRIPOLI, Libya (AP) — The Libyan government spokesman said Monday that representatives of Moammar Gadhafi's embattled government held face-to-face talks with U.S. officials on repairing ties between the nations.

A U.S. State Department official confirmed the meeting took place but said it was only to deliver the message that Gadhafi must step down and no future meetings were planned.

The meeting came after Friday's decision by the United States and more than 30 other nations meeting in Istanbul to recognize the eastern-based rebels fighting Gadhafi's government as the country's legitimate representatives, added the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the meeting publicly.

Libyan spokesman Moussa Ibrahim told reporters in Tripoli that the talks were held Saturday but he refused to say where or which officials took part.

"This is a first step and we want to take further steps," he said. "We don't want to be stuck in the past; we want to move forward all the time," he told reporters in the corridors of the hotel where foreign journalists are required to reside.

He described it as a "a first-step dialogue" to see about repairing relations between the two countries, which he said had been damaged by misinformation.

The U.S. was an active participant in NATO airstrikes against Libyan forces starting March 19 that were authorized under a U.N. mandate to protect Libyan civilians from Gadhafi's advancing forces.

The U.S. later turned over command of the air campaign to NATO and now plays a largely logistical role in the continuing airstrikes.

I'm sure they weren't actually talk talks, but just a kinetic diplomatic action.

Representing the interests of the United States and the rest of the free world was the world famous Reverend Jeremiah Wright . . . so you know, that had to go real well.

Thats it then.No more Mr.Nice Guy. Vladimir Putin is about to gain a new ally, and it can be well assured that Obama and NATO will soon be going home with tails tucked between legs.

The U.S. was an active participant in NATO airstrikes against Libyan forces starting March 19 that were authorized under a U.N. mandate to protect Libyan civilians from Gadhafi’s advancing forces.>>>>>>>>>>

1) The attacks were initiated by Obama.

2) THe UN mandate was foir the orotection of civilians who were being killed by Gaddaffhi, nothing new there, Gadhaffi had been killing Islamists for years, helping the USA.Why so much concern all of a sudden? Well its simple, the USA no longer considers Islamofascist the enemies of AMerica. Surprise, surprise!

3) The NATO and US bombings have killed more innocent civilians than Gagdhaffi had before hand or has since, a well kept secret revealed by any on the ground interview with any resident of Triploi.

IMPEACH OBAMA!!!!!!

Stalemate. If Quacky takes hostages that last through the election, Barky’s repeat of Carter is complete.
