Wow, that was quite a blast. Kaboom. He's right of course. I'm pretty certain my employer is doing the same thing. Based on workload, it could hire bunches more of engineers and technicians. Instead, those of us employed are just working boocoo OT hours.

Financially, I am doing great. I love the Obama economy (when I look at my bottom line). I'm making more money than I ever have. I don't mind working and making some OT (though it is approaching more than I want to). But I am not mad at my employer for me running my tail off. If I was in the shoes of the senior leadership of my company, why would I hire more people? I have no idea what an employee is going to cost me long term. It is easier to run the tails off existing employees.

Of course, the quality of our product will eventually suffer if the work load continues as it is--hurting our wonderful customers. Really its too bad. Instead of everybody on my team working boocoo OT and making the big bucks, another couple people could be hired off the unemployment line, and everybody would be a lot happier. But again, I can't blame our senior leadership for failing to approve additional help.

To be perfectly honest I'm beginning to wonder if it will change even after he is gone. Barack Obama has taught the American business just how easy it is to cut cost and people. At the top and at the bottom. The company that I work for has completely restructured everything and to be perfectly honest it works well for them. Tons of big wig 6 figure types at the top have been let go. The people at shop level have changed also. The emphasis is more on young hourly types instead of the older salaried manager and it also works.
