"them" clearly refers not to Muslims in general or to Middle Eastern Muslims, but to presumably Muslim American citizens of Arab and Pakistani decent.

Hassan IS a Muslim American citizen of Arab (from what was then part of Jordan) descent. The political winds against him are pretty strong. So is "O" going to stand with him? Seems to me that Hassan should have been questioned and detained by the FBI, and Army CID as well.

He certainly should. Diversity is extremely important in Obama's America, and Hassan is still just as wonderfully diverse as he ever was.
