Bachmann Ahead in Another Presidential Poll (Now ahead of pack of GOP contenders including Romney)
Dakota Voice ^ | 07/19/2011 | Bob Ellis

Another poll, this one from Public Policy Polling, finds Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) leading the pack of GOP presidential contenders.

Michele Bachmann’s momentum continues to build and she’s taken first place by the smallest of margins on PPP’s newest national Presidential poll. 21% of Republican primary voters say she’s their top choice to 20% for Mitt Romney, 12% for Rick Perry, 11% for Herman Cain, 9% for Ron Paul, 7% for Newt Gingrich, 5% for Tim Pawlenty, and 3% for Jon Huntsman.

Bachmann’s rise has been fueled by her appeal to voters on the far right- and their skepticism about Romney. Romney has the lead with centrist Republicans (23-17) and with those defining themselves as only somewhat right of center (24-17). But among ‘very conservative’ voters only 48% have a positive opinion of Romney to 34% who view him negatively, weak numbers, and Bachmann’s capitalizing on that with a 26-15 lead over Romney, who’s in third place with that group of voters.

Zogby’s latest poll a couple of weeks ago had Bachmann way out in front with a double-digit lead over her nearest competitor.

This poll finds that if another conservative candidate like Sarah Palin or Rick Perry got into the race, that could divide Bachmann’s supporters…and vault RINO Mitt “RomneyCare” Romney to the front.

The “mainstream” media and other liberals–including many within the Republican Party–know this and are not only doing everything they can to smear her publicly, they are trying to fan the flames of competition and strife from her own party. Someone even a little less conservative than Bachmann is preferable to them, but they especially like to hedge their bets with liberal candidates from the Right.

That is my greatest concern with the possibility of Palin or Perry getting into the race: dividing the Republican vote and leaving RINOs to select liberal Romney as the GOP nominee.

That would guarantee another four years of Barack Obama in the White House, because a great deal of principled Republicans will not vote for Democrat-lite and we’ll have another 2008 on our hands. And with the country in the current dire fiscal and economic shape, I don’t know if America can survive another four years of Barack Obama.

Media won’t demand Barry’s medical records. Only Republicans need to show their records.

This is getting to be too stupid. How about a reality check...

That is my greatest concern with the too early entry of Bachman and Cain dividing the potential vote of Palin or Perry, thus dividing the Republican vote and delivering RINO Romney as the GOP nominee.

Loser candidates throwing on the cloak of conservatism or imitating a proven successful potential potentate makes about as much sense as conservatives + republicans not figuring out an unchecked GOP will become the third party that splits the conservatives + republicans vote.

Republicans are becoming Conservatives, thus moving to the TEA Party and away from the GOP as they watch the GOP clearly failing to maneuver against the communist liberals.

The so called "moderate" republican voters are seeing this day after day are are disgusted with the GOP. To be blunt, republican voters at all levels of intensity want to KICK ASS, not kiss it.

The first credible poll that shows her besting the disaster in the White House (if it comes) will give her a huge boost.

Has she been out for days at a time during her campaign?

Apparently the only appearance she has missed in years was one for Roy Blunt 2 years ago

This is a strange story. Unnamed former aides?? I guess the Daily Caller ran the story to get out ahead of it before dem media went wild with it

Michelle is the true placeholder. Sarah will take her place as soon as she enters the race.

ANYBODY on the R ticket will beat Baraq in a 2-way race.

He only got 53% against McLame and a demoralized R party.

The enthusiasm to defeat Baraq in 012 will be tremendous.

RE: Has she been out for days at a time during her campaign?

The answer is NO. In fact, She’s been everywhere she said she would be scheduled to be.

"This poll was already debunked on another thread. When both Perry and Palin were included, Romney was in front (and Palin was ahead of Perry)."

How do you debunk a poll with information contained within that very same poll? Yes, Bachmann drops to number 2 behind Romeny if both Palin and Perry get it. That is IF they both get in. The obvious reason why Perry was included in both polls is that there is a lot more indications that his entry is imminent. Every time one of Palin's supporters, or her daughter, has indicated that her entry was imminent, she squashed the rumors. As it stands now, a Palin entry, along with Perry, would appear to throw the nomination to Romney. "When both Perry and Palin were included, Romney was in front..." You say that as if it was a good thing. How is it that some on this site are making the argument that Michele's candidacy is splitting the vote away from Sarah and giving the nomination to Mitt, when the polls are showing the opposite to be the case?

RE: Possibly and NO.

Which leads to the next logical question to the latter answer — WHY?

"Palin will never catch up."

Not if these numbers hold up:

"Republicans don't want Palin to run though. Just 29% think she should enter the race at this point to 53% opposed to that idea. Even among those voters who see her in a positive light only 45% think she should make a White House bid."

Because many on this site have been following Sarah's progress since 2007 and they have not heard of Michele until a few months ago. They see Michele making establishment republican moves and it is not passing the smell test.

. and giving the nomination to Mitt, when the polls are showing the opposite to be the case?

Tout a poll that does and someone else will come along touting one that shows the opposite.

The obvious reason why Perry was included in both polls is that there is a lot more indications that his entry is imminent.

PRIC Rick? He has not done squat. The biggest indicator to folks here in Texas observing his actions for more than a decade that he was thinking of a run on the WH was when he turned on a dime from his establishment RINO ways and started thumping his chest pretending to be a conservative.
