Scarborough, Bashir In MSNBC Bash-up Over Hacking Scandal
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 07/20/2011 7:06:05 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Keith Olbermann was infamous for his in-house feuds during his MSNBC tenure. But Keith's clearing-off has manifestly failed to transform the network into a land of milk and honey. Witness the nasty little spat on today's Morning Joe between Joe Scarborough and Martin Bashir, host of an MSNBC afternoon show.

At hand was the hacking scandal, and in particular Piers Morgan's possible involvement. Scarborough referenced a Morgan statement indicating that at the time he was editor of a British newspaper, he was aware of a phone-hacking technique. Joe asked Bashir if he was surprised that more hadn't been made of it. Bashir condescendingly responded that he wasn't surprised since, "if you read it carefully, Joe" the statement contained no admission by Morgan of having used the technique. For more on the matter, including the suggestion that Morgan's paper in fact used the hacking technique to break a sex scoop, click here.

That set Scarborough off and the two continued to exchange barbs till the end of the segment.

I’m waiting on this scandal exploding into allegations that the National Enquirer, DNC, NY Times, etc., have also used phone hacking and payoffs to get their scoops.

This may be common practice, and if so there are a lot of people shaking in their boots right now. And plenty of cover ups going on in preparation. Look for lots of reporters ‘commiting suicide’.

Was in the car Sunday and listened to People’s Radio show
“On the Media [from the left]” and they actually described the scandal as “the gift that keeps on giving”.

Big media drones don’t even try to hide their glee.

How does this benefit the Left? Given we know Murdoch’s money went in the greatest amount to Obama?

How does the narrative play out when this huge fact is now in evidence?

I don’t know. They just hate Murdoch with a glowing red passion.

There hatred is born of the fact Murdoch owns FNC and is purported therefore to be a strong Conservative.

But if he has given MORE cash to Obama then any other individual and overall has given more to Dems then rep, how can they maintain their ridiculous posturing?

Remember, Main Stream Media is referred to as a stream because it’s so shallow.

I don’t think Murdoch has an ideological bone in his body. He looked at the media market in the US, saw it was uniformly liberal, and realized there was an unversed market for less liberal news. He served a market and profited from it.

You are not supposed to make a profit from news. You do it to save the world.

Gee, the Lockerbie bomber deal never elicited this much concern. Go figger.
