One of the problems involving communicating with or about the Chinese is when you go from the written record you get the full essence of the ideomatic expressions behind the ideographs ~ so the context gets put before the hoarse voice trying to shout out the slogans.

Some of this stuff is very colorful while other statements are just incomprehensible.

My favorite is "running dog lackeys" ~ which is so appropriate for "political dog robbers", even the pictures are pretty similar.

We were up in Philadelphia once and went down to Chinatown for dinner. The Chinese speaking/reading staffer with us read a sign hanging across the street ~ it used the expression "white devils" ~ REALLY! There's a standard character for that one so they use it ~
