The legislature should just go home since this administration doesn’t need them to pass/repeal laws anymore.

Of course they can. That's not the issue. The issue is whether or not it is wise policy to permit them to serve openly. In my opinion, it is not.

Four more years and the draft will be debated to be reinstated.

Recruitment and retention rates are currently at record highs in all four branches of service.

I agree with Marlowe. There is nothing in the US Constitution that says the Secretary of Defense has to obey orders from the president.

The SecDef is a civilian...he is not military.

Like Marlowe says, Obama can nominate a replacement for Panetta, which should indicate his services are no longer needed. I would take that as being fired, but getting into the weeds, the Constitution really doesn’t deal with relief from an appointment, with the possible exception of impeachment and “good behavior.”

FWIW, I will say this again. I think the number of homosexuals serving in the military will decrease over the next couple of years. The problem will be for the leftist freaks to decide on whether to ignore it or spin lies for it.

Heh, Article 125 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice says if they do it, they will be discharged.

I wonder how our combat troops will feel about being treated by queer Medics when they’re wounded in battle? I know they test for HIV along with the gazillion vaccinations they make you get, but if a homosexual is going to contract HIV, it’d probably be while deployed overseas. On the flip side, how would you like to be the guy who has to treat that medics wounds when he takes a hit? Our troops put enough on the line for their country without having to worry about that.

You did read the title and the article, right?

It'll take 4 years for a cause to have an effect.

Happy to have a medic treating them to save their life.

>>> I wonder how our combat troops will feel about being treated by queer Medics when they’re wounded in battle?

As long as the drug gets injected and the Medivac called, my guess is a trooper with his foot blown off and his leg shredded by a mine won’t spend much time worrying over who the man is with the morphine serette hooked up with on his last R&R. And if he is worried about that, my compliments on his ability to compartmentalize.

I know a girl that thinks she a Lesbian that wants to be a Marine.

I say thinks she is because she was abused as a teen and knowing her background, she never identified as gay until abused. Also, a lot of the people she encountered in the social services field growing up encouraged her to “accept her true identity” etc. She was abused by a man and in those formative years she was not helped in any way to deal with the abuse but encouraged to “look elsewhere” in my opinion. I know this is one anecdotal case, but she is more comfortable around women because of her abuse. In her specific case I think society let her down by
telling her it is acceptable and expected that this mean she identify as a lesbian.

She always said she wouldn’t enlist until DADT was repealed. I thought that was a good thing because she needed to work on her own issues and not deal with them in the military. I tried not be overly judgmental or tough with her because it just made her run from me to those that don’t want her to face her issues. Now I just feel she will feel justified in her life choices, but you can just see the pain on her face daily.

Curious you mention “impeachment won’t happen”. Just from what I know of FBI Informants purchasing firearms with TARP funds in op “Fast and Furious” impeachment should be well under way. The fact it isn’t sort of tells you just where we are on the “timeline”.
