[Susan] Rice Lashes Out at Russia for Blocking U.N. Council From Tackling Climate Change
FoxNews.com ^ | July 21, 2011

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice this week issued a blistering rebuke of Russia, China and other countries that blocked the Security Council from adopting a statement linking the threat of climate change to international peace and security.

During the Security Council’s first formal debate in four years on the environment Wednesday, Russia was not swayed by Western nations led by Germany, this month's council president, insisting that the 15-nation panel needs to respond to the effects that climate change has had on Sudan's Darfur region and in Somalia, where the United Nations say famine had struck two areas.

"We have dozens of countries in this body and in this very room whose very existence is threatened," Rice said without naming the countries. "They've asked this council to demonstrate our understanding that their security is profoundly threatened.

"Instead, because of the refusal of a few to accept our responsibility, this council is saying, by its silence, in effect, 'Tough luck.' This is more than disappointing. It's pathetic. It's shortsighted, and frankly it's a dereliction of duty."

Moscow's was "skeptical" about efforts to have the council address climate change, Russian envoy Alexander Pankin said, according to Reuters.

"We believe that involving the Security Council in a regular review of the issue of climate change will not bring any added value whatsoever and will merely lead to further increased politicization of this issue and increased disagreements between countries," Reuters quoted him as saying.

India and Brazil, both temporary members of the council, also express reservations about getting the body involved.

“Wonder when some smarter, less corrupt people will defeat us.”

Middle America are those people who will defeat these corrupt and power mad idiots of ideology.

The Rice/Obama types live in a media adored bubble where their ideas are accepted as reality. Move inland a bit and there are WELL ARMED Americans who will not tolerate this stupidity that is putting us in mortal danger.

Thankfully our enemies will storm the liberal coastal meccas 1st. As they hold white flags and show the peace sign these same libs will suffer murder, rape and torture. This will wake their dumbasses up to the reality of government power unchecked.

When the enemy moves inland he will find Governors and state militias ready to save this great nation and all of it’s people. Even the dummies who opened the gate.

Because we can pull the entire world economy down with us and our stupidity.

We, and ally or two of ours, are the dishonest con men spreading glowbull warmcooling nonsense.

We are the ones getting in bed with some damn evil governments, Pock-E-stan for one.

Hell, like I said, we have become the Axis of Evil, us, our country, it sucks, we are bad guys. We are responsible for our government as we are the ones who elect it. In failing to do our duty as citizens of America, in failing to properly educate our children and instead letting this evil ass government do it for us, we have done this, and it’s not going to affect just us.

Well, while I’d like to agree completely with that, I must ask, who is going to organize them? Who will command them and develope effective combat strategies.

You just can’t have a bunch of people running around shooting at whomever.

And another thing, just bc one can fire a weapon does not mean that one is a soldier or effective combatant.

One must be in shape, one has to be able to get one’s gun to the proper location, and then maybe hunker down for a long time. Soldiers require extensive training in order to be effective. I mean, I can fire a gun very well, but I can’t fire one after running 6 miles with an 80 lbs backpack.

What I mean to say is, we can’t just sit around and think oh well when they go too far we just use the 2nd amendment to reset the situation. I don’t think that would turn out well at all. In fact, should that happen, I think I’d like to be in the farthest woods possible, bc a lot of people would die.

I still want to know how all these scientists with a consensus plan to fix the problem?

Because it sounds to me like the way they want to fix this is to burn massive amount of American dollars. Just don’t see that working too well.

you're dreaming. The pot is at full boil and the frog has been dead for a long time. All we are left with is people talking. If there hasn't been an uprising yet, after all that has taken place, it ain't happening. Our political and justice systems are so so corrupt they are beyond repair. We have a mexican invasion taking place right before our eyes. Our constitution, culture and language has been trampled. And the people always say, we aren't going to take much more. Dream on. You will keep taking it because the time to put an end to it is long gone. Hold on and enjoy the ride into the drain.

“”insisting that the 15-nation panel needs to respond to the effects that climate change has had on Sudan’s Darfur region and in Somalia,””

Good grief - does this nitwit really believe that African nations are as corrupt, decadent and murderous as they are because of “global warming?” Boy! That’s some new justification/rationalization for the slaughter that goes on over there.

Next we will hear that Muslim extremism is due to global warming. Nah, I guess not as her type nor anyone else from this current administration will ever admit it even exists.

I’m really glad to see that that there’s a government that respects science, reason, and the health and well-being of citizens. Too bad it isn’t ours.

There is simply nothing to fix.

Mother Nature gon do what Mother Nature gon do, all we need to do is ask Japan on that one.

We are being played for the absolute fools that we are.

Empower government so that it can make the weather constant?

Who on Earth would even fall for such bullspit?!

The answer-

Almost everyone.

If Russia had warmer weather they might not have a population problem.

I know many businesses would relocate there.

Hardly surprising. Russian climatology is dominated by astrophysicists who base their predictions on models of the sun’s behavior.

That and the fact that neither the Russians nor the Chinese are going to hobble their economies on the basis of pleas to expand the power of the state to regulate energy use (having seen what similar stupid state regulation causes at first hand when they were Communist—yeah, yeah, I know the ruling party in China still calls itself “Communist” but it’s really fascist). Neither has fallen into the neo-pagan post-Christian decadence that regards over-simplified computer models of chaotic dynamical systems (be it markets or the earth’s climate) as oracles, and runs around fretting when the virtual entrails don’t look right.

To post 25 and 28 you need to read a bit more history. If you think for one minute that battlefield answers come at the drop of a hat or behind keyboards then you didn't read or understand my post. I said “Governors and State militias”. You also assume that your own US military is suddenly your enemy in this scenario. Are you F-ing kidding? Do you have ANY family in the US military? I do and they are not your enemy! Stop reading the paper and watching the news as it's rotting your brains and turning you into exactly what they want. Cowards! And Paul51, Sodom and Gomorrah is “full boil” we're not even close.
