Heard that an agent tried to rig his own tracking system using Radio Shack components, but the batteris ran out too fast to do any good.

As far as I can tell so far, out of thousands of guns, there were only two with GPS trackers. The ATF folks watched one of them go into Mexico until it got out of range or batteries. I have not heard anything about the other one.

Even if they all had GPS devices, what is the point? Eventually batteries die. So you can show that guns smuggled into Mexico were in certain places at certain times.

The ATF was not cooperating with any Mexican authorities, and they had no jurisdiction to investigate in Mexico.
