WASHINGTON (AP) -- Pentagon chief Leon Panetta has decided to end the ban on gays serving openly in the armed services and certify that repealing the 17-year-old prohibition will not hurt the military's ability to fight, officials said Thursday.

His decision, which was expected, comes two weeks after the chiefs of the military services told Panetta that ending the ban would not affect military readiness.

How the heck would Panetta know if it would affect the military’s ability to fight? What expertise does he bring to the Pentagon?

The Chiefs of the Military services. One would think they would be brave men who would stick up for the men under their command ,instead of selling those men out to a bunch of queers and shilling for Leon Panetta, and Obamalamadingdong, Mrs. Larry Sinclair.

I would think that with the economy re-entering the crapper that the enlistment & retention numbers would remain strong despite the social engineering going on.

Why do they keep calling DADT a ban on gays? Gays have been banned from military service for as long as I can remember and then some (a common ruse to avoid the draft in the 60’s was to claim homosexuality). DADT was Clinton’s compromise when he failed to end the ban in the early 90’s.

Technically, ending DADT by itself would simply revert us back to a total ban on gays serving, and the MPs could actively investigate.

I suppose then he would have no problem with straight men showering naked with straight women. No? Well then that’s just “Straightaphobic”....We straights are sick and tired of having our rights oppressed by the man.

That’s exactly what’s happening. Recruiters are having no trouble meeting their quotas these days.

“The Chiefs of the Military services. One would think they would be brave men who would stick up for the men under their command”

Very senior brave men bailed out by the hundreds under Beelzebubba, and were replaced by go-along-to-get-along, ass kissing, CMA, mein career uber alles, politically correct PowerPoint commandos.

Sadly enough, the officer corps now needs a house cleaning almost as badly as the State Department or the CIA.

Of course he has no problem with it. Obama’s going to cut funding for the military so much that it won’t exist at all by next year anyway.

>>> Still haven’t heard how the recuitment of the class of 2011 or the retention of the enlistes od the class of 2007 who are completing their 1st hitch is going.

Apparently no mass exodus from the services. No tumbleweeds careening through the recruiting offices.

June 29, 2011

All four active-duty military services have met or exceeded recruitment goals as of May for this fiscal year.

According to a Defense Department release, the Army recruited 44,950 new soldiers, above its 44,200 goal. The Navy recruited 20,942 people, its exact goal number, according to the release. Air Force ranks were also right on the money, with 18,444 “accessions.”

The Marine Corps beat its recruiting goal by 39 people to bring in 14,995 to the Devil Dogs’ side. Reserve components also hit or exceeded their recruiting goals, and the release states that retention goals are on track so far this fiscal as well.

In an attempt to address retention bloat, about 16,000 sailors are being considered for involuntary separation from the Navy because they fall into 31 overmanned job categories, or ratings.

The UCMJ punishes sodomy. Lifting DADT doesn’t really change a thing. Watch for them to change the UCMJ next.

Doesn’t the Military code have rules against PDA? Will the gays/lesbians be held to the same standards as the straights? This is about bringing chaos to our military, chasing out the hard-core Patriots, and reinstating the Draft (something that Rangel has been pushing for). Then you are really going to see trouble in them thar hills.

“Recruiters are having no trouble meeting their quotas these days.”

Not according to The Department of Defense.
