Charles Payne has been talking about this on Freedom Watch. So far, the appeals to the state attorney general’s office and the governor have not produced much of a response. It’s amazing really. Also, they couldn’t get anything but a mealy-mouthed comment from the congressman who represents that area. The US is becoming like a third world banana republic.

Thanks, I read every word. What to say? Bring back the good old days, I guess. Must have been nice to live in America.

I wouldn't think there would be enough money in local revenue to account for this level of corruption, especially in small towns.

I am wondering if there is federal grant money at stake here. The feds do give lots of $$$ to municipalities all over the country.

When corruption becomes a town's "business as usual," isn't the State obligated to step in?

Why hasn't the State of Arizona been requested to help?
As chief executive officer, it seems to me that the Mayor has the authority and obligation to do that.

Wow, is that ever true. I am very close to a situation like this, but in a small town on the opposite side of the country.

What often happens in small town gov’t is that a little clique of officials keeps getting elected. Nobody wants to run against them (or nobody dares), so they often run unopposed, Soviet-style, and “win” every election.

Pretty soon these types start to think they own the town. Our First Amendment right to free speech is the first principle to be thrown out the window. These councils will curtail the public’s time to ask questions at meetings. They will also attempt to muzzle any rogue members amongst themselves.

And naturally, town business is conducted to personally benefit those in power.
Any request from the public for action that doesn't suit the council members’ personal agendas, is either rudely dismissed, or blown off with that hoary old phrase, “we'll look into it.”

The Arizona “Sunshine Laws” (aka Open Meeting Laws) are very strict about this, and apparently fines have been levied by the state Atty. Gen. for violations.

Council quorums are not allowed when not in a posted meeting, and any “executive meetings” have to be for very specific purposes.

I'm sure the violations of these laws are relatively easy to prove, and I bet they will be prosecuted.

Here is the law in fairly easy to read English -

We had the chance to stop by and see Quartzite just the other day. I had read a lot about the history and it had an appeal to it. We had read these recent reports and kept driving...I hope everyone else does, too.

Well what the heck you do with them.....
I don’t care much really. Just more to dust.
But doesn’t it strike you a bit egocentric? Kind of like you’re jumping up and down saying ‘look at
me! look at me!’
Anyway if you
decide to add
flashing lights and
color, ping me.

Can’t rustle up a good yeehaw to chase those rogues out of town on a rail? That town needs to be freeped or sumfin.

While it sounds pretty damn petty to cut the mayor’s symbolic pay to nothing, that doesn’t equate to deposing him from office. I guess they’re daring someone to sue them in state court.
