Much of what DOD spends is 45+ years of political donor palm greasing, ditto for any program, especially Medicare.

We are retired Military, they just repaved a good commissary parking lot on a Tue, when foot traffic of the old is high, it’s closed on Mon. Made a lot of people sick from the smell, did a poor job of it, it is in worst shape than before the repaving.

Yet we have those very heavy walk through doors, that now need to be pushed open remaining unfixed.

Repaving the parking lot was a waste of $$ it had another 5 years in it. Wasn’t even damaged in the May ‘10 flood.

Let me very clear that I recognize there is a great deal of waste in DOD spending. I support cuts in Defense spending. I support cuts everywhere.

My problem is that plenty of politicians on both sides of the aisle will come up with 10 areas in which we should cut the budget -- and 9 of them will be in Defense.

Fine. Cut defense. Tell me stories about parking lots. Tell me horror stories about weapons programs. Fine. Cut it.

But that's so easy to say. Everyone says it. Everyone always says it.

Now -- Talk about the harder places to cut. If a politician won't talk about SS, Medicare, Education, DHS, EPA, USDA, etc -- if the only place they can think of to cut spending is Defense -- then they are NOT interested in cutting spending. All they REALLY want to do is weaken the country.

At least to some extent, when the GOP talks about cutting Defense spending, they are attempting to be fiscally responsible.
When the Democrats talk about cutting Defense spending, they are not thinking about the money. Democrats don't care about that. Democrats just hate soldiers.
