Hyatt apologized Friday morning for an incident in which heat lamps were turned on above workers on strike at the Park Hyatt Chicago hotel Thursday, saying a manager is responsible for the controversial move.

Hotel workers on strike were taken by surprise Thursday morning when 10 heat lamps hanging above their picket line flipped on and stayed on for what they claim was nearly an hour.

It's assault and battery. I'm no lover of unionism, but this calls for more than an apology.

A little over the top don't you think?

With the heat lamps on,should have given them a nice shower, with a fire hose to cool them off.

Agreed.

Man, we disagree over this kind of thing, and suddenly some people think it’s ok to behave like animals.

Not over the top. Where do you draw the line between a heat lamp and a fire hose?

If this was done to a prayer group of pro-lifers outside a ‘killing clinic’ it would be proclaimed as a ‘great move’.

But since the tables are turned there will be charges filed and management fired.

Really lowering the bar on assault isn’t it.

If it had been winter they would have cried about them not being turned on.

It's been worse, the history of labor disputes is largely suppressed from history books, don't want the slaves to get restless agin’.

I don’t think anyone here would be calling it a great move if it were done to pro-lifers. I agree, the libs would say it was cool, but not many of them, and not out loud.

Someone should get fired over it. I wouldn’t care if these lamps were turned on pro-aborts. You don’t treat people this way. We’re better than that.

Too stupid to move away from the heat lights?

Perhaps, but more likely the SEIU rep figured it would gain nationwide notoriety.

I’ve read about the issue and you are indeed correct. The killing and brutal behavior is available, though, I don’t see it being suppressed—just ignored.

The question is, did the picketers have a right legally to be there or not? If they didn’t have a right to be there, then they should have been evicted by the police. If they did have a right to be there, then they had a right to be free from being roasted by heat lamps.

Actually, I think they were plugged in to AC outlets. They would not need batteries...

You don’t treat people this way.

I used to work in a job that required me to enter IR ovens as part of the job. I guarantee they were a whole hell of a lot hotter than what these clowns felt.

They simply could’ve moved. Hyatt is probably so sick and tired of these unions and their idiotic demands they couldn’t help themselves.
