Earlier this month, Moody's downgraded Irish government debt to junk. Which left the Irish somewhat peeved. The Department of Finance pointed out that it had met all the "quantitative fiscal targets" imposed by the European Union, and the National Treasury Management Agency said that Ireland was sufficiently flush "to cover all its financing requirements until the end of 2013." Which is more than the government of the United States can say. That's not the only difference between the auld sod and America. In Europe, austerity is in the air, and in the headlines:

In Europe every square inch of land has been tied up by someone somewhere for centuries.

In America a full 1/3 of the landmass of the United States is still titled to the federal government. Gazillions in resources remain to be found and extracted.

The current problem is one of cash flow ~ not wealth. That's not the case in Europe ~ not even in Germany, or France, or England, or Greece, or..........

If Obama had any intent to reduce spending (which he has demonstrated he does not) he could avoid a “debt crisis” by issuing an executive order that required all executive agencies to reduce or defer all non-essential spending equal to at least __% of their budgets. But the President's goal is to keep borrowing so that he can keep spending and, thereby, keep buying votes. There should be no compromise by the House. It has done its job.

It was enjoyable listening to Liberal talk radio this morning on the drive in to work. Now we all know when it is crunch time and it is Obama vs. the Republican challenger they will be back in his camp like the zombies they are - but right now, today, they hate his guts, and are sorry they voted for him in the 2008 primaries.

Boehner reminded everyone yesterday that the day AFTER the last election, he received a letter from Geithner saying that they had to do an increase in the debt ceiling. The Dems could have done this all by themselves...during the lame duck session..has anyone ever seen Reid or Pelosi asked the question?

Obama has done his best to pretend to take them seriously. He claimed to have a $4 trillion deficit-reduction plan. The court eunuchs of the press corps were impressed, and went off to file pieces hailing the president as "the grown-up in the room." There is, in fact, no plan. No plan at all. No plan whatsoever, either for a deficit reduction of $4 trillion or $4.73. As is the way in Washington, merely announcing that he had a plan absolved him of the need to have one. So the president's staff got out the extra-wide teleprompter and wrote a really large number on it, and simply by reading out the really large number the president was deemed to have produced a serious blueprint for trillions of dollars in savings. For his next trick, he'll walk out on to the stage of Carnegie Hall, announce that he's going to play Haydn's Cello Concerto No 2, and, even though there's no cello in sight, and Obama immediately climbs back in his golf cart to head for the links, music critics will hail it as one of the most moving performances they've ever heard.

Compliant press is to blame.

I had no finance courses but I always assumed those in change of our government’s finances had some education in those areas.

Until I see Obama’s transcripts with multiple economic courses (other than “How to bring down the house”, I will ignore his opinions and spit at his image.

Because the MSM is who the majority still listen to.

If they were honest journalists, not Columbia Journalism School Communist propagandists, they would have debunked "O" from the beginning...

The latest Rasmussen poll showed 55% oppose Obama among likely voters, but break it down, it gets a little scary. 23% still strongly APPROVE Obama's administration. That would appear to be that the hard core communists and radicals, plus the mindless rat partisans...have seriously increased. We used to estimate the hard core leftists as only about 18%...so now they appear to have increased their percentage dramatically over the last 8 years.AND, somehow another 21% generally approved him...so that despite overwhelming objective evidence of his economic sabotage campaign, his national security treasons, and his blatant and brazen attacks against the PEOPLE's CONSTITUTION.... these "middle-grounders" are oblivious to all alternative media reports...
