A large umbrella group for Tea Party activists targeted Republican leaders Tuesday for what they called caving in on the deficit talks.
The Tea Party Nation put House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on notice "for betraying the movement that put Republicans in charge of the lower chamber last year."
In a press release, Tea Party Nation founder Judson Phillips drew a hard line for the Tea Party position. Phillips warned that his organization is on the lookout for Republicans voting to give away "more borrowing authority to President Obama" without also ensuring spending cuts, entitlement reform, passage of a balanced-budget amendment and defunding programs such as Planned Parenthood and the healthcare reform law.
"Voting for the 'Cut, Cap and Balance' plan won't save you from the Tea Party's wrath if you ultimately vote for a cheap giveaway of more debt to Obama, as McConnell and Boehner are planning," Phillips said.
Calling Boehner and McConnell "RINOs" (Republicans in Name Only), Phillips warned that the Tea Party would not stand behind them in their next election if they compromised in order to reach a debt ceiling agreement. Tea Party Nation, which holds an annual Tea Party convention that boasted former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as a speaker last year, plans to turn its influence toward "hunting RINOs and defeating Democrats" in 2012.

Sounds like a premature ejaculation regarding Boehner.
Had the men of 1776 and 1787 been such cheap and weak-kneed politicians as those in Washington today, no Declaration of Independence or Constitution for a free people would have come into being.
Instead those courageous men stood up to a King, placed their lives, property and sacred honor on the line and were willing to die to establish a place of liberty for their posterity. They were patriots and statesmen.
These politicians do not even approach statesmen status, and they do not even connect sentences together which can articulate the ideas of liberty for the youth of this nation in an hour of great consequence for the future of liberty in the world.
What a shame!
What the heck is the “Tea Party Nation”...?
Some kind of left-wing false flag operation? That’s what it sounds like to me. I’ve never heard of it.
They’re trying to prevent us from supporting Boehner when he has actually done something right. And don’t think the left (thanks to Mr Community Organizer) hasn’t got plans for sowing distrust and anger among conservatives and destroying any gain we may make. Being a leftist is all about divisiveness and stealth attacks.
Not necessarily, if indeed Boehner was angling FOR $800 billion in new revenue as part of a deal.
Who? Apparently a lawyer riding on the coattails of a grass roots movement.
Nothing to question, Boehner said that himself.
Judson Phillips is a lawyer and he formed the Tea Party Nation. Sounds like a phony to me. There IS no national tea party.
Like opening a cold Pabst Blue Ribbon on a hot, sultry day, it sure is going to feel good when I vote against the RINO politicians who have the audacity to run for public office.
I just had to leave the room after the 3rd time Obama referred to the great McConnell/Reid plan!
I then called McConnell’s office in KY and left a message.
Guess we will all need to bend over will McConnell give us a dose of KY political screwing over!
Why the man admits he caved and had been negotiating tax and spending.
If Boohoo pulls it out and wins this one for the Tea Party, I will donate to him directly.
It won’t work on me.
Boehner did good...... today.
Yes he did.
‘Why the man admits he caved and had been negotiating tax and spending.’
My understanding is that he has been proposing lowering tax credits and deductions as long as lowering the tax rates makes the net change revenue neutral, i.e. no net tax increase.
What if Obama had agreed to Boehners admitted agreement to 800 billion in tax hikes?
There would have been a deal but there would have been a public crucifixion of Boehner on Saturday.
It can’t be a gain of 800 billion in revenue if it’s revenue neutral.
