JULY 23, 2011 Democrats' New Ads Court Latinos

The Democratic National Committee launched its first advertisement of the presidential election on Friday, a Spanish-language television spot that signals both parties see Latinos as potential kingmakers in 2012.
The DNC launch followed the Monday airing of an ad in Spanish by American Crossroads, a Republican group not subject to campaign-finance limitations, featuring a narrator expressing disappointment in President Barack Obama.
The DNC ad was anchored to the message: "We know who to trust, and who we can't."
The ads are running head to head in Reno and Las Vegas, Nev.; Tampa, Orlando and Miami, Fla.; Denver; Albuquerque, N.M.; and Washington, D.C. They target Latino communities that were critical for Mr. Obama in 2008.
The Obama re-election campaign is counting on larger Hispanic populations in these places next year to compensate for erosion of support for the president among white voters.
"This ad buy, and the fact that it's the first one of the season, sends a very strong signal about just how high a priority the Hispanic community is," said Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee.
Mr. Obama's standing with white voters has slid along with perceptions of the economy. But overall, the president's approval ratings are remarkably high compared with the pessimism engulfing the country.
A Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll this week found 47% of Americans approve of the job Mr. Obama is doing, against 48% who disapprove, even though two-thirds of respondents say the country is on the wrong track, the highest percentage of his presidency

Take away 30 million illegals and the number drops to 30% with a heavy oversampling of Dims.

The flood gates were left open and now we must deal. I agree the black vote will not leave Obama so the Latin vote looms a bigger prize. As conservatives we MUST start to court the ideas of family and religion to this voting block. When the Latinos wake up to the fact that the liberal mind wants to crush their spirituality they will revolt. I say just run some Bill Maher episodes on secularism as your ad campaign....
