In a way, the scrutiny that will follow (both domestically and internationally) will strengthen safety standards in China. This happened in aviation, where China had some of the worse safety records and now one of the best.
And many may not realize that the worse high speed rail disaster occured in Germany where 101 people died.
The Communist Party of China has never needed to invent reasons to kill tens of millions of rural Chinese, they just do it.

That is one scary project. Not wide and shallow - but deep and narrow - eventually, the water will find its way out of there.

would think cars from a bullet train would SHOOT off the track
American designed; American built and American fueled. No taxpayer money was extorted to run the things and when the market demand ceased, so did the trains.

I get the feeling it is not going to end well.
Praying it doesn’t fail in my lifetime. The awesome power of the flooding would be spectacular to see, but I just don’t want to think of the millions of innocent people killed.
