Chicago needs school vouchers. And Rahm needs to meditate.
Chicago Tribune ^ | 24 july 201 | John Kass

Mayor Rahm Emanuel certainly made news over his angry, finger-wagging scolding of NBC Chicago TV reporter Mary Ann Ahern the other day.

Ahern dared ask the Rahmfather whether he'd send his kids to the public schools he controls. He reportedly became indignant, took off his microphone and ended the interview.

Elections Later, and with great courtesy, Emanuel revisited the topic with a rival station — which then reported the big exclusive that the mayor was sending his children to a private school.

Emanuel runs Chicago Public Schools. He's shown grit to stand publicly and admonish the teachers union to improve the product. But he decided his children will not attend the public schools.

Instead, they'll travel across the city, from the Northwest Side to Hyde Park, as students of the exclusive, pricey and private University of Chicago Laboratory Schools.

BACKSTORY January 2007 USA Today reported on then-US Congressman Emanuel, and his wife’s, tax-exempt "foundation" (operated out of their Chicago residence--where Mayor Emanuel lives now).

The tax-exempt "US Congressman Emanuel Rahm Emanuel and Amy Rule Charitable Trust" was formed in 2002, when the 4-term Chicagoan was first elected to Congress. US Congressman Emanuel and his wife, Amy Rule (a convert to Judaism), are its only donors.

US Congressman Emanuel doesn’t pay any property taxes and he gets income tax write-offs----this allows his kids to attend school tuition-free and allows him to expense a lot of personal expenses.

US Congressman Emanuel also "donates" to his Foundation (thus shielding income from taxes); his wife apparently draws a salary from the foundation. They reported having $2,900 on hand at the end of 2005, receiving $34,000 from US Congressman Emanuel and donating more than $31,000. US Congressman Emanuel also donated $25,000 to his Synagogue.

US Congressman Emanuel’s tax-exempt foundation gave nearly $25,000 to the Anshe Emet synagogue and school [a private school that US Congressman Emanuel's children attend], and $15,000 to the foundation run by former president Bill Clinton. The foundation also gave $14,000 to Marwen, a Chicago charity that provides art classes and other educational help to low-income children. US Congressman Emanuel's wife, Ms Rule is, on Marwen’s board.

WH COS Rahm Emanuel Pays Property Taxes After Inquiry (Rahm says he "never" rec'd tax bill)
CHICAGO (WBBM), Steve Miller Reporting, 6/2010

White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel was three months behind on his property tax payments until WBBM Newsradio 780 brought it to his attention..Rahm Emanuel and his wife accumulated a $445.56 penalty for the payment delay on their four-bedroom Ravenswood home. On March 2, when property taxes were due, Emanuel owed about $7400.

The White House responded to WBBM Newsradio 780's inquiry and issued this statement, "Rahm Emanuel has owned his home in Chicago for 11 years and has always paid his obligations promptly. He never received this particular bill, but today, the moment it was brought to his attention, he paid it in-full immediately."

The treasurer's office says not quite 13.5 percent of homeowners in Cook County are delinquent on their taxes - up only slightly from previous years. SEE THE TAX BILL FROM TREASURER'S WEBSITE. Contents of web site are Copyrighted 2010 by WBBM.

RAHM'S CHICAGO HOME Nice big house, politically correct solar panels, big yard, one way street, 2.5 baths, 2,791 square feet.

BUSINESS AS USUAL IN CHICAGOLAND---Chicago pols collude with the Tax Collector to "delist" their properties.....to shield pols from paying taxes.

AMNESTY WHORE GUTIERREZ A TAX CHEAT The same Chicago tax assessor that finagled Rahm's taxes, once carried the home of amnesty whore and a former cab driver Cong Luis Guiterrez (D-Ill) on the tax rolls as a "vacant lot."

The assessor argued---- after the story became public----that Guiterrez should not be penalized for a "clerical error" ....

This came after Guiterrez paid minimal taxes for years and years...... b/c Guiterrez' home was listed on the tax rolls as a vacant lot.

Cong Gutierrez (D-Ill) has made a career out of helping illegal aliens drain whatever they could out of America.

Good chance Gutierrez was aiding and abetting govt financial fraud and ID fraud. How many fake ID's were used to bilk govt agencies?

City investigating program that helped daughter of Gutierrez D-ILL---The Chicago Sun Times | May 4, 2010 |

The City of Chicago's inspector general has opened an investigation into an affordable-housing program under which U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez's daughter was able to buy a condominium at a discount, despite family income of more than $93,000, and resell it after 14 months at a 55 percent profit.(Excerpt) Read more at suntimes.com ...

FBI agents ask about Gutierrez, developer The FBI has interviewed City Hall employees and Chicago aldermen (a former cab driver) about U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez's ties to a corrupt developer, according to records and interviews that raise new questions about the congressman amid an ongoing federal investigation.

A former alderman convicted in the investigation told FBI agents that Gutierrez boasted of helping his longtime political supporter Calvin Boender obtain a lucrative zoning change for a development on the city's West Side. Another alderman told agents this year she thought Gutierrez was going to buy a home in the development. (Excerpt) Read more at chicagotribune.com ..

The public schools are doing precisely what they were designed to do. Rahm Emanuel doesn’t want it done to his kids.

(And I don’t blame him.)

Rham is sending his kids to the prestigious University of Chicago Laboratory Schools in Hyde Park......the tuition for this very very VERY exclusive school is a mere $21,060 to $24,870 per year, per child.

Mmmmmmm.......we know Rahm's got lots of moolah----not only did he (cough) "make" a bundle on Wall Street----but when he was made Ohaha's COS, Rahm took over the US Treasury, the census, and has access to billions when he appointed his brother control of Medicare/Aid and ObamaCare.

THIS MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD Grinning mayoral candidate Rahm actually went before the mics to announce he had raised $10.5 million campaign bucks in just three months. ROTFLOL. Heck, Rahm...... everyone knows it only takes a nanosecond to transfer funds from offshore accounts.

The census comes in handy here---when candidates have to supply names and CV of donors to election agencies. Some people donated to Rahm...... and don't even know it. ROTFL.

If memory serves, the majority of Chicago school teachwers don’t send their own kids to Chicago schools, so I’m unclear as to why scumbag Rahm is being treated any differently by the scum in the press.

Even Rahm Emanuel can't violate the laws of physics. The speed of light is about 186,000 miles per second, and Chicago is about 4,000 miles from London. It would take at least 0.022 seconds, about a fiftieth of a second, for a signal to travel that distance at the speed of light.

Actually, the Speed of Light is 'about' 186,282.4 MPS. But that speed is in a Vacuum, like 'empty' space not traveling through the Earth's Atmosphere as radio electronic waves do. So it would take 'a bit longer' (technical term) than the +/- 0.022 seconds.

As to a 'nanosecond'. Per Dictionary.com, besides its mathematical definition of a 'Billionth of a Second', if you scroll to: Cultural Dictionary, it is also defined as follows:

The term is often used to refer to a very short time: “He missed having an accident by nanoseconds.”
Ergo, 'nanosecond' is used correctly.

All that being said, the bottom line here is: Rahm Is A Typical Limo-Lib DemocRAT Hypocrite.

So for once I think John Kass missed it here as it's not about Rahm's kids and Vouchers. If Rahm was going to send them to a Jewish School from his Synagogue then the Voucher argument could be legitimately raised as then any poor Jew could use them to get their kids in the same school as Rahm.

However, all the Vouchers in the world -- or cold hard cash from winning Multi-Millions in the Power Ball Lottery -- wouldn't get John Q. Citizen's kids into this U of C Lab School. As admission to this school is highly restrictive (picky) and if you 'ain't no one', or 'don't know anyone'. You and your kids are s.o.l.

So that, IMO is or should be, the issue that Kass should have went with. Not private schools in general, but THIS EXCLUSIVE private school.

No offense meant. Just joking with ya in the 1st part :-)

Don’t get your panties in a twist.

It’s OK to use hyperbole-—words such as nanosecond-—when criticizing a crooked pol.

Rather than vouchers, Chicago, like everywhere else in this country, needs to get rid of socialized schooling. Vouchers only perpetuates the single payer system rather than fix the root problem.

You would expect a politician with his experience and his access to help to have a good answer ready instead of a temper tantrum. But, then again, he is one of the progressive elites and so is accustomed to softballs from the left-loving media.

I think the use of hyperbole should be mandatory when speaking, and/or writing about any RAT politician. Simply because of the fact that there is no 'intentional exaggeration' (aka: hyperbole) in the English language that can accurately describe how utterly despicable they are.

Mathematics *could* work, but how many people remember Algebra, Exponents, and the powers of 10.

Like: 'My' senator Dick Durbin is so bad, he sucks by 1012

Or: Obama is so stupid that when they took his IQ test in HS they couldn't grade it because their calculators only went to 10-7 decimal places!

See. Some may get it if they use Algebra regularly, but for most .... WHOOSH! ... right over their heads. ;-)

Leave aside for the moment Rahm's financial finaglings, even leave out his particular name or party affiliation.

Readers educated in Freep University will recognize the class warfare gambit employed in this article. Read it again. Envious and snarky, right down to the mention of Rahm's missing finger.

Throughout American history, the rich have sent their kids to private schools, and the firemen, policemen, welfare folks and all the downtrodden victims of an unfair capitalistic society referred to in the column have sent their kids to public schools. It will always be so until schools are nationalized under federal fascist control and all the schools in the country will be equally fair and equally bad.

The glory of our American economic system has always been that if you work hard, achieve, create, save, invest, compete, you, too, can live better, and you, too, can send your kid to a better, even the best, school. This glory applies to everyone equally if they care to utilize it. And this is how it should be.

As an aside, in today's climate, I have no trouble with prominent pols in any city sending their kids to private, more protected schools. Kidnapping, beatings, other dangers can face these children who can be innocent targets for various types of nuts and haters.

It seems to me the writer would contribute more to the betterment of education by expounding on and exposing the deathly grip of unions in public education....plus the lack of discipline and order in the schools due to decades of liberal infiltration and control of education.

You can't raise the level of quality in public schools by conducting snide class warfare against private schools and attacking and sneering at those parents who can afford (and sometimes sacrifice) to send their children to these superior centers of learning.

Most of us went to public grade and high schools that were relatively peaceful, harmonious and safe....and the teachers weren't politically and ideologically driven. We got good educations. Our parents didn't live in fear every day for our safety.....and the quality of our education was pretty darn good.

'Tis no longer so in many places across the fruited plain......and the fact that there is a thriving ("unfair", according to the above journalist) private school system in this country is not the problem at all.

The fact is that the entrepeneurs who have worked hard to create and run private schools deserve kudos. They more often than not educate students who turn out to be creaters and leaders such as they....and we need every one we can get.
